This is an Enhanced CD, which contains both regular audio tracks and multimedia computer files.
Consistently underrated yet possessing vocal talents beyond many of her contemporaries, Amerie first exploded onto the U.S. charts in 2002 with the breezy pop-R&B confection, "Why Don't We Fall In Love?" Since then, despite a consistent run of hits and numerous critical plaudits, she continues to languish in the shadow of contemporary R&B's lesser talents. PLAYLIST: THE VERY BEST OF... is a useful recap of Amerie's first two albums, both collaborations with producer Rich Harrison. Mixing her sultry urban balladry with retro-flavored go-go and New Orleans funk, this collection is a fine introduction to a greatly underappreciated talent.
Containing all the charting singles from 2002's All I Have, 2005's Touch, and even a trio of songs from 2007's Because I Love It -- easily the best of her first three albums, ironically not released in the U.S. -- Playlist: The Very Best of Amerie was, as of late 2008, the best single Amerie disc on the market. In addition to a handful of album cuts not issued as singles, there's a faithful cover of Diana Ross' "I'm Coming Out" (from the Maid in Manhattan soundtrack) and "Too Much for Me," her appearance on DJ Kayslay's Columbia-released Streetsweeper, Vol. 1 mixtape/compilation. ~ Andy Kellman

This greatest hits album would have been better if Ludacris verse had not been left off why dont we fall in love. Overall this is a good Album

While touring with Belle & Sebastian, Stuart Murdoch began writing songs for a separate project. The songs revolved around the travails of a girl growing up in Scotland who ends up being hospitalized for what seems like a mental breakdown. He auditioned female vocalists and began putting the music on tape. The album sounds much like a B&S album, and as good as the female singers are, the record works best when Stuart takes the vocals himself, as on "Pretty Eve in the Tub" or "Hiding Neath My Umbrella."
While touring with Belle & Sebastian the past few years, Stuart Murdoch began coming up with songs he thought of as a separate project. Soon, they became sort of a story revolving around the travails of a girl growing up in Scotland who ends up being hospitalized due to what seems like ...

Abrasive, harsh, forceful, intense, confrontational -- those are the sort of adjectives one might use after hearing a lot of hardcore techno at a rave. But not all electronica has that in-your-face approach. At the other side of the electronica spectrum are styles like chillout, downtempo, ambient, and trip-hop, all of which are much smoother, gentler, and softer than techno -- arguably, the difference between techno and the chillout/downtempo side of things is like the difference between Stan Getz's caressing bossa nova and Charles Gayle's blistering free jazz. And that kinder, gentler side of electronica ...

Debra WangerIt started in Chicago, where she wrote and sang original musicals for her stuffed animals when she was very young. Debra began an illustrious theatrical career starring as Toto in a summer camp production of Wizard of Oz. Barely surviving head-to-toe fur in sweltering July heat, she already knew how to suffer for her art. She studied acting at the nationally-acclaimed Piven Theatre Workshop with such talents as John Cusack, Joan Cusack, and Jeremy Piven. Her vocal training began at the Northwestern University vocal department while still attending high school. She declined an opera scholarship to Oberlin Conservatory in order to study musical theatre at University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM.) She took a quarter off to work for a few months in live theatre. Fifteen productions later, she returned to school and graduated magna cum laude from Tufts Universityand received a Masters of Fine Arts in musical theatre from San Diego State University, where she graduated Phi Kappa Phi as a Marion Ross Scholar. Debra has performed in regional theatres and cabaret clubs across the country, most frequently in Los Angeles, San Diego, Boston, and South Florida. In Professionally Speaking at the Off-Broadway, The Miami Herald hailed her “a comic sparkplug.” Her role in Triumph of Love won a KPBS-TV Patté award. Her one-woman show My Nights With George, Kurt & Cole, (co-written and directed by comic genius, Phil Johnson) was featured at various venues throughout Southern California and won Best New Play and Best Actress at the 2003 San Diego Actors Festival, and the San Diego Playbill Billie Award for Best Actress in a musical.Debra took hiatus from performing to explore the “other side of the table.” As a talent manager and at Creative Artists Agency, under world-famous super-agent Michael Ovitz, she helped to guide the careers of such actors as Donald Sutherland, Patrick Dempsey, Halle Berry, Alyssa Milano, and Antonio ...
