1988 was an important year for hard rock and heavy metal music. While pop/glam metal was still ruling the charts, such up and comers as Guns N' Roses and Metallica were introducing a more stripped down and in-your-face approach to the rock world, and racking up huge sales. Undeterred by trends, Ratt stuck to its guns on its fourth release, REACH FOR THE SKY, which showed that the group was perfectly content to stick with the spandex and pop metal that made its first three releases such a success. On the whole, this refusal to branch out rendered the album slightly less surprising than OUT OF THE CELLAR. Nevertheless, REACH FOR THE SKY did spawn even more MTV favorites by way of "Way Cool Jr." (which supposedly criticized Guns N' Roses) and "I Want A Woman." Ratt Reach For The Sky Songs Reach For The Sky Music Review Average Rating: (4.5 out of 5 stars) Great album One of the better know bands in the 80's, Ratt was consistantly cranking out big riff hits and catchy video's! Released at the heigth of their career, 'I want a woman", " what's it gonna be", and "way cool jr." were the best tracks. This was my second favorite album from the band, topped only by Detonator, which was their greatest recording! Submitted by carrfox (Gallatin,Tn.) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Ratt N Roll! This is one of the best Ratt albums I've ever heard! Great hard rock at it's finest. Stephen Pearcy, Warren Demartini,Robbin Crosby(r.i.p.) Juan Crucier, and Bobby Blotzer play some party hardy rock anthems. The band is still going strong to this very day,and rocking arena's all over the world! A must have for any 80's fans! Reach For The Sky album
$8.39 With two back to back hit albums behind it (OUT OF THE CELLAR and INVASION OF YOUR PRIVACY), Ratt found itself near the top of the 1980s hard rock heap. With their party hearty lifestyle also serving as the subject matter for much of their music, the quintet wisely decided to not mess with a winning formula on their third release, DANCING UNDERCOVER. ...
| | Ratt Detonator CD (1990)
Reach For The Sky CD music
$7.59 Many were beginning to write off 'pop metal' by the dawn of the 1990's (and with good reason - the impending Seattle alt-rock movement was about to annihilate the genre), but bands such as Ratt continued to trudge onward. 1990's DETONATOR showed that the popular L.A. band had toughened up its sound a bit more, and notched up another platinum certified success. Much more focused and consistent than 1988's REACH FOR THE SKY, DETONATOR spawned the popular single/MTV video "Lovin' ...
| | Dokken Back For The Attack CD (1987)
Reach For The Sky music CDs
$6.15 Although 1987's BACK FOR THE ATTACK proved to be Dokken's fastest-selling album ever (achieving platinum status shortly after its release), it would prove to be the band's last new studio album until 1995's DYSFUNCTIONAL. Growing tensions between singer Don Dokken and guitarist George Lynch reached a boiling point during their stint as part of 1988's Monsters of Rock tour, and the band members went their separate ways after a lackluster live album (1988's BEAST FROM THE EAST). Still, BACK FOR THE ATTACK still managed to contain more than a few highlights.
Dokken's instantly identifiable melodic hard rock is gloriously on display on the MTV favorite "Burning Like a Flame," as well as the dirge-like "Heaven Sent." Other highlights include the band's lone instrumental, "Mr. Scary," which showcases the guitar talents of George Lynch, as well ...
| | Ratt Invasion Of Your Privacy CD (1985)
Reach For The Sky songs
$6.19 Ratt broke out of the L.A. pop metal scene and into the big time with its 1984 debut, OUT OF THE CELLAR, an album full of rock guitar riffs, sexual innuendo, and pop gloss production. INVASION OF YOUR PRIVACY came almost exactly a year later, and attempted to replicate the previously winning formula. MTV helped bolster ...
| | Dokken Tooth And Nail CD (1984)
Reach For The Sky album
$5.99 TOOTH AND NAIL contains some of Dokken's best all-time tracks--especially a pair of rockers that were issued as MTV videos ("Just Got Lucky" and "Into the Fire"). Also featured was the ferocious album-opening title track (proceeded by the short instrumental "Without Warning"), as well as the concert favorite "When Heaven Comes Down." But the album's best track is undoubtedly the aforementioned "Alone Again," a power ballad that helped open the floodgates for other similarly styled songs that would rule the airwaves for the rest of the '80s.
Dokken's first album, BREAKING THE CHAINS, spawned the popular title track that received some airplay on MTV, but the album's other songs didn't measure up. The band's follow-up, 1984's TOOTH AND NAIL, was Dokken's first truly consistent album. It spawned the band's breakthrough single/video "Alone Again," which ...
| | Ratt Out Of The Cellar CD (1984)
Reach For The Sky CD music
$5.99 Heavy metal quintet Ratt released its first album independently in 1983, getting its chops down on such early classics as "You Think You're Tough". After signing with Atlantic, the band released OUT OF THE CELLAR. The album featured Tawny Kitaen on the cover and cemented Ratt's place in metal history.
An acoustic intro leads into the pulsing, crunchy riff of "Back For More." This anthem sets the pace for an entire ...

| | T-Ride CD (1992)
Reach For The Sky songs
$13.79 Joe Satriani rightfully proclaimed T-Ride as the future of metal, but their debut came during the holocaust of hair, creating nary a ripple as grunge flooded America. This self-titled sole release is a lost treasure, swinging with the dignified dexterity of Queen, the surround sweeps of Def Leppard, and the retail ranting of the Tubes. Bassist and lead yelper Arlie possesses both of Axel's amazing octaves, but this Cali trio's sound is wholly unique, and the LP is one of the sharpest metal works ever. "Luxury Cruiser" rolls right alongside "Red Barchetta" and "Highway Star" in the greatest "I'm in love with my car" song race. The album's obligatory ballad, "You and Your Friend," is another dazzler, beating "My Girlfriend's Girlfriend" and "Women in Love" in the ménage à trois finals. Plus, "Back Door Romeo" probes "Nothin' to Lose" ...
