(1 Customer Review)
Billed as one of Billy Ray Cyrus's most personal albums, BACK TO TENNESSEE finds the achey-breaky star of screen and country music stage mining a somewhat retro vein. "Real Gone" is straight-up 1970's-style rock, powered by a big guitar riff right out of the Foghat songbook, while "Back to Tennessee"'s soaring backing vocals and catchy melodies recall classic soft rock. On "Somebody Said a Prayer" Cyrus's weathered vocals are a good match for the song's spiritually uplifting message. Throughout, Billy Ray delivers a unique blend of old and new, forging a country style that is steeped in the purest pop, yet retains an earthy edge.

| | Billy Ray Cyrus Wanna Be Your Joe CD (2006)
Back To Tennessee songs
$12.59 Three years after his gospel album, THE OTHER SIDE, Billy Ray Cyrus took another break from his more regular TV acting stints (DOC and HANNAH MONTANA) for 2006's WANNA BE YOUR JOE, a set of accessible, mainstream country tunes. Dubiously mullet-free and sporting a shaggy hairdo that recalls Keith Urban on the cover, Cyrus stays in a surprisingly traditional-minded vein for much of the record, even collaborating with legendary performers George Jones and Loretta Lynn on the rustic "Country Music Has the Blues." Other highlights include the rock-tinged "Stand" (featuring an appearance by Miley) and the self-mockingly nostalgic "I Want My Mullet Back," rounding out an enjoyable album that will appeal to Cyrus's long-time fans.

| | Garth Brooks Ultimate Hits CDs (2007) With DVD
Back To Tennessee album
$12.35 For a period in the early 1990s, Garth Brooks was not only the biggest star in country music, he was one of the biggest stars in music, period. An unassuming Oklahoman who fused the blue-collar ethic of new traditionalist country with an unapologetic pop side that drew on his love of 1970s rockers like Kiss and Billy Joel, Garth Brooks fundamentally changed the sound of mainstream country music in much the same way that Hank Williams had in the 1940s and Patsy Cline had in the 1950s. THE ULTIMATE HITS, a three-disc collection that is the first comprehensive career overview for Brooks, contains all of his most beloved songs in remastered sound, plus ...

| | Josiah Potter 50 In A 35 CD (2009)
Back To Tennessee album
$9.85 Singer/songwriter Josiah Potter from Jacksonville, Florida, released his sophomore album “50 in a 35,” last August. Potter’s music sustains a clean crisp pop/rock sound, a real down-home mix of acoustic guitar picking, poignant lyrics, and fluid virtuosity. With songs such as “Sometimes It’s Good To Be Alone,” “A Simple Little Thing,” “Unnoticed” and “50 in a 35,” one cannot help but gain a respect for the basic song craft that gives them the kind of real substance that the genre is looking for. “Every Now and Then,” the best vocal track on the album, will give you chills not only through the electrifying guitar, and the vocals but the vivid imagery that Potter paints in his lyrics that we all can relate too. The title track of the album, “50 in a 35,” clearly the single, ...
| | Tracy Lawrence Rock CD (2009)
Back To Tennessee CD music
$12.39 Contemporary country vocalist Tracy Lawrence had his fair share of both success (Platinum-selling albums and dozens of hit singles) and much-publicized personal travails (an assault charge and several failed marriages). THE ROCK was ostensibly recorded to fulfill a promise to the Georgia native's parents, but it was his stock of varied life experience that made Lawrence ...
