| | Wendy & Bonnie Genesis CD Wendy & Bonnie Discography of CDs
San Francsico sisters Wendy and Bonnie Flower (allegedly their real last name) released their lone album, GENESIS, in 1969. A dreamy soft-psych/folk-rock affair, it centered on the teenage sisters' vocal harmonies and ethereal songs. A flop at the time, it became a collector's item over subsequent decades before it was finally reissued in 2001. The 2008 deluxe edition includes a whole extra disc of rarities, including alternate takes and demos, crucially adding to the too-short legacy the one-shot duo left behind.
Deluxe Edition
Audio Remasterer: Bob Irwin.
Liner Note Author: Irwin Chusid.
Arranger: Gary McFarland.Rolling Stone (p.127) - 4 stars out of 5 -- "[T]he holy grail for fans of SF pop-pscyh....[A] sweetly sad 1968 lost gem..." Mojo (Publisher) (6/02, p.169) - "...A unique beauty...Drifting, mystical, Latin-flavored: somebody once called it 'stoner samba'. The melodies and harmonies are unfailingly strong and atmospheric.." Genesis album
$10.45 "Here In Angola," "Pandora," and "Indian Summer" were originally released on the LP INDIAN SUMMER.
24 CARROTS is folk-rocker Al Stewart's 1980 album, recorded with Shot in the Dark. This reissue features five bonus tracks, "Here in Angola", "Indian Summer", "Pandora", "Delia's Gone", and "Princess Olivia".
The pun of the title of 24 Carrots -- the first overt signal of humor Al Stewart has displayed in years, possibly ever -- illustrates that a lot has changed since 1978's Time Passages. The loosening of his wit is perhaps the most evident, but the most significant is the departure of ...

| | Doors Soft Parade CD (1969) Gold; Remastered
Genesis CD music
$14.42 Dismissed by the benighted as the Doors' "pop album," SOFT PARADE is one of the band's most adventurous recordings, utilizing strings and horns without resorting to schlocky over-production and moving far beyond their blues roots. Morrison was fully into his shaman phase by 1969, and his obsession with that image is reflected in the proselytizing air of "Tell All the People," and of course "Shaman's Blues." The album's biggest hit "Touch Me," while easily the group's most radio-friendly offering, is a pop classic that ranks among the great '60s AM radio tunes. "Wild Child" is a brief return to the blues-rock of yore, but the title track is a sophisticated, extended piece that moves through several different moods and textures, full of the elliptical, poetic lyrics that were Morrison's trademark.
The weakest studio album recorded with Jim Morrison in the group, partially because their experiments with brass and strings on about half the tracks weren't entirely successful. More to the point, though, ...

$21.49 Denver trumpeter Ron Miles' resume includes time with Bill Frisell, Madeleine Peyroux, Don Byron, the Ellington Orchestra, and Fred Hess' Boulder Creative Music Ensemble. Besides being solicited all over the world for his unique sound, Ron is a staple of the Denver jazz scene and his recent releases as band leader show off his skills as a composer and arranger as well as a 'phenomenally gifted trumpeter' (Bill Milkowski).A resident of Denver since he was 11, he began playing the trumpet seriously in junior high school and studied music at the University of Denver (1981-1985) and the Manhattan School of Music (1986). Miles says that living in Denver has given him an appreciation for a broad array of musical styles that he might not have acquired elsewhere. 'Country and Western music, Latin, jazz, and rock ...

Succinct, to the point and with great warmth and humor.\" Jeff Ritter, BroadsideWhat can you say about this James McCandless character? Geographically speaking, he was born out west and raised in Chicago, so he really doesn't know if he's supposed to be a cowboy or a gangster. He has played guitar and studied, taught, performed and recorded music since the age of six. Other than that, he hasn't worked a day in his life.
