Released in April , Real Pop might be one of the best old school power pop albums of 2009. It’s packed with 17 extremely catchy songs, all loaded with chiming Rickenbacker guitars and plenty of two part harmony and background oohs & ahhs. Not too many current power pop bands put much effort into lush background harmony. On Real Pop, the boolevards will remind many listeners of some of the great classic pop bands of the sixties like the Beatles, Beach Boys, Hollies & Billy J Kramer with the Dakotas, as well as some of the later great pop bands like The Wonders, The Rubinoos, Flamin’ Groovies, The Pleasers & The Toms. The melodies contained on this album will have you humming for weeks at a time. Anyone with a desire to hear some well crafted pure power pop songs should look no further than this.What some of the great power pop critics have said so far ....Bruce Brodeen of Not Lame Records - No truer title will you see in the coming weeks, folks. The Boolevards play `real pop`, the kind of power pop that fans of the late 70s skinny tie power pop crave.
