This DVD includes a digitally remastered version of the classic film. A yellow Phantom II Roll-Royce is the setting for three otherwise unconnected tales of romance and adventure. The first owner is a British diplomat whose wife uses the back seat of the Rolls to conduct an affair with one of his underlings. The car is then used in the 1930s by a gangster's moll who falls in love with a photographer. Finally, an American woman uses the car to unwittingly smuggle a political activist across the Yugoslavian border during World War II. Following THE V.I.P.'S, their film about stars stranded at the airport, director Anthony Asquith and writer Terence Rattigan, turned to this stars-on-the-road vehicle; an unconnected three part romantic drama about the glamorous owners of a classic Rolls-Royce. Lord Frinton (Rex Harrison) originally purchases the car in the 1930s as a gift for his beautiful French wife (Jeanne Moreau) only to discover that she is using it to carry on an affair. He promptly sells the car.
In Genoa, an American gangster, Paolo Maltese (George C. Scott), buys the car to tour Italy with his gum chewing moll, Mae (Shirley MacLaine). A handsome photographer (Alain Delon) pursues Mae from town to town, but she resists until Paolo has business to attend to in America, leaving them alone in the Rolls, which once again acts as an aphrodesiac. When Paolo returns, he gets wise and sells the car.
During the Second World War, American millionairess Gerda Millett (Ingrid Bergman) buys the Rolls, now looking much the worse for wear, in Trieste for a dangerous trip to war torn Yugoslavia. When she meets Davich (Omar Sharif), a dashing young Yougoslav partisan, he compels her to take him with her. While not as weighty as previous Asquith-Rattigan efforts, THE WINSLOW BOY and THE BROWNING VERSION, this continental romp still manages a nice blend of drama and romance. THE YELLOW ROLLS-ROYCE was director Anthony Asquith's final film.
The Rolls-Royce used in the film was a 1930 Phantom II Sedanca de Ville.

Yellow Rolls Royce review
$11.89 This two-CD compilation, assembled from the Walker Brothers' three albums and various singles released by Philips between 1965 and 1967, gives a good overview of their U.K. history without limiting itself to their hits. The sound quality is good if not exceptional -- one gets the sense that another round of remastering would be in order (and while we're talking about sound, wouldn't one like to see a Mobile Fidelity reissue on the Walker Brothers or, for that matter, Scott Walker's best solo stuff?). And the track order isn't chronological -- their two best-known songs, which were not ...

| | Constance Demby Live In Tokyo DVD (2008) CD Baby
Yellow Rolls Royce review
$29.09 EXCLUSIVE EUROPEAN IMPORT"Live in Tokyo" is both a CD, a DVD, and an exquisitely crafted, hi-level Japanese production with excellent sound quality. The special effects, close-up shots of the artist in action, stunning visuals, Demby's inspired music, and sublime Japanese artistry, all combine to make this a classic work of art. Captured during Demby's tour of Tokyo, the magic of this Summer Solstice concert was filmed by a ten-man camera team with multiple cameras (on the ceiling, on the keyboards, etc) in a grand hall filled with magnificent temples, sculptures and works of art. (This DVD is in both NTSC and PAL format. Simply choose the appropriate side for your location, NTSC for USA and PAL for foreign.)"Gorgeously expansive synths-based music...you'll hear the whole world of Constance Demby open up before you like no other recording before it." -Andy Garibaldi - Dead Earnest CD Reviews"While there are many pretenders to the throne, listeners can be sure that the music of Constance Demby is the real thing. Few artists express the majesty and grandeur of the spiritual realms as eloquently as Constance on her numerous recordings. There are precious few concert DVDs CDs of this genre of music on the market, and even less filmed at this level of sophistication. Highly recommended." - M. Diamond, New Frontiers"Warm analogue layers of string synths ... Deep resonating bass ... Layers of melodies that float and flow ... Demby's soaring, wordless chants ... An expansive choral quality that you hear in cathedrals as the music fills the air, creating the magical spells that can only be found in such places." - Dead Earnest CD Reviews'Live in Tokyo" is Constance's best kept secret! I find it right in the same league with "Novus Magnificat" and "Set Free" which are my favorites (so far). It would be hard to find music that is more spiritually uplifting and transcendent.” - Brother David LandryBIOAn internationally acclaimed, Grammy-nominated, award winning performing and recording artist, Constance Demby has been ...
