| | Z-Ro Crack (Chopped & Screwed) CD Z-Ro Discography of CDs
A member of the Houston-based Screwed Up Click (affiliated with the much-heralded DJ Screw), Z-Ro has released a prodigious stream of recordings since his debut, LOOK WHAT YOU DID TO ME, appeared in 1998. CRACK (2008) adds to the rapper's underground reputation by demonstrating once more his verbal dexterity and command of the mic. Guest appearances by Slim Thug, Paul Wall, Mike D, and others make CRACK festive, but it's the stripped down, hard-hitting production and Z-Ro's fierce skills that make this a solid release. Crack (Chopped & Screwed)
$13.69 A veteran of 10 albums at the age of 26 and an acclaimed member of Houston's Screwed Up Click, Z-Ro is much more complex than his surface or the simple intro of THE LIFE OF JOSEPH W. MCVEY may imply. Prolific output isn't the only thing he has in common with hardcore legends such as Too Short and Rap-A-Lot icon Scarface; Z-Ro also cuts his hard-edged street delivery with a haunting, almost hypnotic, introspection.
As this album reveals, Z-Ro deeply feels every word he sings. With "I Hate U B***h," the ...

Crack (Chopped & Screwed)
$11.55 MAKING GOOD NOISE was nominated for the 2004 Grammy Award for Best Musical Album For Children.
Gadfly Records is proud to announce the release of a brand new family CD, MAKING GOOD NOISE, from two-time Grammy Award winner Tom Chapin. The new album is the tenth installment in Chapin's remarkable series of albums for families to enjoy together. Chapin's nine previous family-oriented recordings have won every award in the book: Parents' Choice Gold & Silver, the American Library Association, Parents Magazine and the New York Music Awards, as well as multiple Grammy nominations. On MAKING GOOD NOISE, Tom Chapin continues to speak to children and families with great wit and wisdom. A storied live performer and a pioneer in the field of children's music, Chapin and his collaborators (John Forster, Michael Mark and Jon Cobert) have crafted an ever-expanding body of original music aimed at the post-toddler, pre-teen set. The songs are full of ideas yet, while many impart a message, the overall tone remains light and fun. Teachers throughout North America have incorporated Tom's songs into their curriculum, finding them accessible and adaptable to classroom study and interaction. What makes Tom Chapin's music unique is its across-the-board appeal - kids find it funny and contagious, while adults find it intelligent and creative. It becomes a place where kids and parents can meet and have fun, music they can listen to together. It makes you feel good about yourself, emphasizing a positive awareness of life, family and our environment. And hey, it's really fun!MAKING GOOD NOISE is full of lively tunes and fresh, witty lyrics and, as always with Chapin, the music is top notch, covering an extraordinary range of styles and ideas. With terrific songs, great singing, a hot live band with real horns, and even a famous string quartet, this is not your typical kid's record! This time the theme is making music: a Tom's-eye view of the joy and craziness of learning, playing, sharing, creating, practicing and performing together. These fifteen new songs plunge us into his musically delightful, inventive, story-filled world. "I love this record," Tom says, "and hope it will be played a lot, especially on long car ...

| | Ken Jones Simply His CD (2000)
Crack (Chopped & Screwed)
$11.39 Life happens with rhythm and melody...and so it is that this CD began in the heart and soul of the musician who sees with eyes of faith and listens with ears of sensitivity to the meaning of events that occur around, to, and within him. His gift of hearing the melody in the moment and the rhythm in the reality of Life finds expression in these songs you'll hear on this CD of instrumental songs of Faith. Some of the tracks are the melodies to songs inspired directly from the words of Scripture, such as "Search Me, O God," Psalm 139:23-24; "If We Confess Our Sin" (1 John 1:9); "Come To Me" (Matthew 11:28-30); and Prayer Promises (Jeremiah 33:3, John 15:7).The joy of living in love with the Lord finds expression through the songs "My Lord, My Life," "WindSong," "I Thank You, Lord," and "He Gave."Relationships based on a common faith and Christian perspective can make the heart sing, as evidenced by the beautiful melodies of "Joshua's Lullaby" written for Ken's newly adopted baby boy (and played during his adoption ceremony). Since Joshua is the Old Testament equivalent to the New Testament name of Jesus, this melody begins with the opening phrases of "Jesus Loves Me" before morphing into Joshua's uniquely-crafted tune. "Melody" is inspired by a darling 5-year-old with that musical name who lived in the country in a mobile home, with a dirt yard, and a pet goat. Her heart-stealing ways endeared her to Ken and resulted in this tribute to his young friend."Touch A Child" found inspiration from an article of the same title. Ken's poetic adaptation of the opening paragraph reads, "As a little girl she had often gone, out into the fields where she stood alone. Amid the tall waves of grass she would sigh, then through her streaming tears, into the wind she would cry, 'O God, please let someone hold me, with tender loving arms, just hold me!' Oh, the cry of this lonely, hurting girl is the cry of lonely children all over the world." The article reminds us all to use the gifts we have wrapped in sleeves and gloves to show a child our love through the power of the loving touch.Other songs are born in the wake of the tragic events of families dealing with the death of all-too-short lives of the children. ...
