Bruce Burgess Gospel Music, 'The Rooster Song' CDMany people have told me 'The Rooster Song' CD is special. Judging by the response it got from the PA State Gospel Singing Convention when it was released, I would have to agree. Everyone loved 'The Rooster Song.' Comments were, 'Its funny with a message', 'I have to buy one of those Rooster CDs to give to a friend', 'There's the guy who sings the Rooster Song.
' ' I heard it on the radio and I had to get it', one lady bought six copies to give friends as Christmas presents. :) Music for a Christmas present, what a novel idea.
:)The rooster's pictures on the cover, inside and back are pictures of real roosters. They were tethered apart and none were hurt during the picture taking or after. There is a picture on the inside of one strutting around and a couple pictures of the Roosters getting angry at each other. It\'s what they do naturally. The birds are beautiful, very colorful. The picture on the back of the CD happened when my friend said the sun was bouncing off my head blinding him. I couldn't help but look over at him and laugh. It's one of those un-posed, happened at the right time moment pictures and yes the roosters were looking and listening to me sing their song.
'The Rooster Song' is great fun to sing. When I sing it on stage I like to watch the audience faces laughing, knee slapping, smiling and asking the person next to them ' Did you hear what he said?' reply, 'Yes, ain't it the truth!' I want to have my wife take video from behind me while I'm singing 'The Rooster Song' on stage. Then I can share people's enjoyment and reactions of listening to the song. It's one of the reasons I enjoy singing 'The Rooster Song' so much. The rest of the songs are great also: if I do say so myself. :) (I wrote all of them except 'The Rooster Song') :)'No Need For Gasoline' is an up to date Country Gospel Blues number about the high price of gasoline, food, insurance, taxes, union dues and still having money to tithe. It also tells how Jesus is in control. Some nice jazz chord riffs on the chorus!. ' I always give to Jesus.
'The 'Hallelujah Song' will be sure to get the Choir singing, meaning everyone that is going to Heaven! 'A great Choir singing a Hallelujah song!. Hallelujah.
' When I wrote and played it for my wife the 1st time she chimed in right on 'Hallelujah,' without being prompted! I knew it was a keeper, as I knew she was when I met her in high school. I thank Jesus everyday for her love and support. I would have a hard time trying to do everything I do without her.
Do you know who 'Jubal' is? Read in your Bible Genesis 4:21. You will find out who he was. Jubal was from the lineage of Cain and is the father of all those who play the harp and the flute. This song tells the story of a young man wanting to hear Jubal play. Not unlike myself, growing up listening to my father and then my uncle play the guitar. 'Oh!.
Jubal!.. please!.. play!.
''Lord, I need you today' was written for a prison ministry outreach I went to in Alabama the last week of Jan. 08. When I wrote the song I didn't know at the time who God had intended it for. While playing Gospel music in the Alabama prisons for a week, getting to know the prisoners and going into different prisons. (A speaker would speak for ½ hour then my bass player Hank and I would play for a ½ hour. We would get to jamb and talk some before ...
