Ask Kellie Peters (Kellie Sue to friends and family) what inspired the collection of songs on Satisfied and you'll never get the same answer twice. Nor can it be guaranteed that the answers won't seem to contradict one another.

'Lyrically, musically, and emotionally, Kellie Peters tends towards dark themes. Broken promises, broken lives and broken loves are subjects frequently explored, which is a little hard to reconcile with her upbeat disposition and bubbly personality.
But 'Poison', her only sticky sweet bubble gum song (if it can even be called that) has sharp pointed lyrical thorns.
'Funny how the smallest little pill can poison you or heal you or make you reel. But swallowing this won't make me well. It only takes a little poison to kill.
'The dichotomy of life - the beauty of the beast- and the frequent irony of unintended consequences are recurring themes that run through all of Peters' music. 'It's so interesting to me this theory of how a butterfly flaps its wings in Brazil and it results in a tsunami in Japan 3 days later- how a fragile thing of delicate beauty can eventually morph into this ravenous monster. Or how a little lie can unravel a person's entire world. There's a cause and effect to even our smallest actions.
'Kellie Peters' story originates in rural Colorado, where she grew up on her family's farm and wound up completing degrees in Vocal Performance and Psychology at Colorado College. Along the way there were plenty of (un?)healthy doses of the kinds of experiences that would mold her into the kind of songwriter she would become- a chronicler of dysfunction! a reporter from the fringes of sanity and a sympathizer to the outsiders. Those same experiences would also steel her resolve and strengthen her spirit, good preparation for her move to Los Angeles, where several key alliances would help get the songs on Satisfied produced.
The first of these was with John X Voltaitis (Danny Saber, Reeves Gabrels, Bonnie Raitt), who captures 'Bleeding' with a lonely starkness that feels positively surreal.
Next was Grammy nominated Phil X (Daughtry, Tommy Lee, Avril Lavine), who has brought dimension, aggression, and volume to Kellie's music, most of which is initially composed on piano.
Kellie performs regularly at various clubs in Los Angeles. Some of her favorite venues include Slim Jim Phantom's Cat Club, Genghis Cohen, and Molly Malone's. No matter where she plays, she is at ease and delivers truth and power from the stage. No matter the arrangement, whether accompanied only by her own piano, or with a full band, audiences are spellbound and drawn to both the dark and the light in her music.
