Hoople album for sale Product Description
After 1973's MOTT, a loosely structured concept album about life in a rock & roll band, the only obvious choice for a follow-up was 1974's THE HOOPLE, a loosely structured concept album about the overall state of rock & roll in the mid-'70s. Opening with "The Golden Age of Rock and Roll," a half-serious, half-satiric look at rock & roll's past, the album continues with the darkly cynical "Marionette," and a pair of classics about teenage life, the sympathetic "Born Late '58" and the proto-punk "Crash Street Kids." The last of these makes obvious the Clash's debt to Mott the Hoople (Clash guitarist Mick Jones was an enormous Mott fan, and lobbied for the band's producer, Guy Stevens, to come out of retirement to produce their classic LONDON CALLING in 1979). ...See Full Description

The Hoople...and then some... What a wonderful blast to hear this album again for the first time in decades. The bonus songs are great as well, especially hearing American Pie/Golden Age live from Broadway. By thosedreadedgnats (Sayreville NJ)
A really good underrated album from Mott!!! A must have for all of you Mott fans out there. Nice bonus trks too. Sounds real nice remastered. cduniverse is really quick in shipping too... good price also. By mikescds (New Jersey, USA) This review is for a different format.
“The Hoople” is the Holy Grail Mott the Hoople’s 1974 follow-up effort to “Mott” is an infectious romp. Remedial rock ‘n’ roll snarl annunciated with British high-society tone, makes for a tasty, albeit campy treat in deed. By mbeau (Port Charlotte, FL, USA) This review is for a different format.
THE HOOPLE IS GREAT I BOUGHT THE ALBUM WHEN IT FIRST CAME OUT. THE CD IS WHAT I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR. IF YOU LIKE MOTT, YOU WILL LOVE THIS. By RUSHKENNY (WEBSTER, TEXAS) This review is for a different format.
A True Classic Sure, this one's not quite up there on the same plateau as MOTT, but it's still a must have. By a reviewer (Pierre, South Dakota) This review is for a different format.
