It's here... and it's ready to take you on an intergalactic journey... sit back... relax and get set to drift... All aboard! The newest release from Seventy Three is a bold collection of eleven dream inspired pieces. It's been five years since the first and last Seventy Three release, but Roland St. John Perez and Damian Rodriguez had committed their efforts in making this new release the best by all regards. In between working on other projects, The duo slow crafted these songs with no limits as to direction or style. A dedicated artistic approach with the anchor for Elevate. Taken from a recent interview with Roland St. John..."Most of music released today is developed for immediate interest to the masses. This approach is fine, but we feel that there is a large audience that has not been addressed. There is a staggering amount of listeners that want and crave more out of music. We find that more and more consumers are buying more music that was made decades ago to satisfy their imagination, hearts and minds. Not long ago, music was developed in a artistic manner to display and convey new ideas and express thought and emotion. That form of creation is still out there, but we are a limited few. We at Seventy Three Records exist to satisfy the sharper ear, we are here for the ones who still believe music is as strong an art-form as painting, photography, writing etc."Seventy Three - Elevate is available now and is sure to give you what your soul and your stereo needs! | | Portishead Dummy CD (1994)
Elevate music CDs
$11.49 Named for a town near Bristol, England, Portishead is a British dance band that grabs ideas from all over the mod pop world (spaghetti Western guitars, turntable scratching, melancholy soul vocals, atmospheric organs, house beats) and stirs them into spacey, dub-like productions that sound like a dance club in the middle of a "Twin Peaks" dream. You could call it surreal hip-hop pop. But if the beats on the band's debut album achieve a kind of trance-like static, the songs themselves reach for something more rousing. With understated lyrics and overstated melodies, singer Beth Gibbons and bandleader Geoff Barrow write insinuatingly melancholy dance ballads that ebb and flow like waves through rustling waters. Organs quaver in quiet tremolos, ...
| | Portishead CD (1997)
Elevate songs
$10.45 Like Soul II Soul a few years before them, Portishead spearheaded a revolution in both pop and dance music by introducing a distinctive new groove. Portishead was at the vanguard of the '90s trip-hop onslaught, and after a three-year respite, they return with a self-titled second album to reclaim the trip-hop crown. Beth Gibbons is on her way to becoming the Billie Holiday of electronica, retaining a stoic, laconic tone while recounting tales of despair and emotional upheaval.
The lazy, spacious beats that are the band's trademark provide just the right combination ...
| | Kraftwerk Minimum - Maximum CDs (2005)
Elevate album
$15.95 Kraftwerk's vision of a keyboard-driven world of clicking metronomic rhythms and digitized sound bites may have been the stuff of avant fantasy in the 1970s (the decade that saw the band's first groundbreaking albums), but it is commonplace reality in the 2000s. This is true not only in popular contemporary music (nearly all branches of hip hop and electronica bear Kraftwerk's influence), but in the computer-dominated society in which we live. In this way, time has finally caught up to Kraftwerk.
This sense of arrival marks the 2004 ...
