Delicate Sound of Thunder album for sale Product Description

Delicate Sound of Thunder album for sale by Pink Floyd was released Nov 21, 1988 on the Columbia label. In the late '80s, fans were thirsting for a live spectacle from Pink Floyd, where they could hear the old tunes and see all the old stunts. That's what they got on the 1987/1988 Pink Floyd world tour, which is documented on the double-disc set Delicate Sound of Thunder. David Gilmour's reunited Floyd (minus Roger Waters) was intent on re-creating the sound and feel of classic Floyd, so it shouldn't come as a surprise that the oldies feel like the classic records, only with Gilmour taking each vocal. Delicate Sound of Thunder CD music is a 2-disc set with 15 songs.   ...See Full Description

Masterful
One classic after another. Some of the best live guitar playing ever recorded, thank you Mr Gilmour. Highlights for me are "One of these days" and "On the turning away" (one of latter Floyds most underrated songs).

Delicate Sound of Thunder songs After the untimely death of former enigmatic vocalist Bon Scott, AC/DC finally chanced upon a worthy replacement in the shape of former Geordie frontman, Brian Johnson. The result was more than the formal pastiche some expected, with Johnson stamping his own personality, not to mention distinctive rasp, on the record. The band's staple lyrical diet of sex and the general pursuit of happiness, however, remained very much intact. Highlights include the stomping 'Hell's Bells', the quiet build of the title track, and the chuckling insolence of, 'Rock And Roll Ain't Noise Pollution'. A winning return. AC/DC's 1980 album digitally remastered and reissued in a special digipak plus a 16 page full color booklet containing all original album art, many unpublished photos, classic memorabilia and new 2003 liner notes. Delicate Sound of Thunder CD music A truly inventive Aerosmith album, still suffused with a gloriously raspy sense of the blues, but quietly evocative in its timbre and approach. It showed Tyler working out lyrics that were so much more than simple cars and girls fodder, 'Adam's Apple' theorizing that creation could quite possibly have occurred with an alien mothership landing on earth and setting the wheels of the human race in motion. 'Sweet Emotion' throbbed slowly into life, 'Big Ten Inch Record', a salty R&B work-out, while 'You See Me Crying' was heightened and given body by a warm orchestration. A clear steeple of great work amid a skyline of repeating successes. Recorded at the Record Plant, New York, New York. Personnel: Joe Perry (vocals, guitar, acoustic guitar, slide guitar, percussion, background vocals); Steven Tyler (vocals, harmonica, keyboards, percussion); Joey Kramer (vocals, drums, percussion); Tom Hamilton, Brad Whitford (guitar); Scott Cushnie (piano); Jay Messina (marimba, percussion). Delicate Sound of Thunder buy CD music Rush began life as a power trio in the Led Zeppelin/heavy rock mode. Over the years the band refined their musical vision as they gained both instrumental and conceptual facility. 1978's HEMISPHERES marks their transition from heavy riff-mongers to full blown art-rockers. Lee, Lifeson and Peart employ a number of tricks from the prog-rock bag here; (very) extended songs, multi-part suites, long instrumental passages, rapidly shifting tempos and time signatures, complicated unison riffs and synthesizer orchestrations. It's to Rush's credit that these elements enhance their sound instead of obscuring it. In fact, "La Villa Strangiato" would become one of the band's best-loved '70s efforts and a long-standing concert favorite. All tracks have been digitally remastered. Recorded at Rockfield Studios, Wales between June & July 1978. Rush: Geddy Lee (vocals, synthesizers, bass); Alex Lifeson (guitar); Neil Peart (drums, percussion).

Delicate Sound of Thunder album for sale No matter which of Pink Floyd's leaders (Barrett, Waters, Gilmour) is at the controls, the band has always been about grandeur. The epic scale of their psychedelic explorations, the life-altering themes of their recordings, their ground-breaking, conceptual stagings, have all helped in the construction of the group's mythology. And more than any other rock band's, Pink Floyd's myths have endured even as the band and its fans have grown older. A live double album, PULSE works not only as an extended postcard of 1994's biggest tour, but as the Floyd's myth re-charger. Consider the facts: the release was celebrated with a laser-light show atop the Empire State Building, and the spine of the CD package features a perpetually blinking light. But, as is always the case with Pink Floyd, there is method in their madness. The blinking light harkens back to the heartbeat that is the unifying theme of their classic DARK SIDE OF THE MOON album, which is performed in its entirety on disc two. Disc one is an approximation of the band's first set, featuring a powerful run through Syd Barrett's "Astronomy Domine" (the definition of late-'60s British psychedelia), as well as a host of songs from 1987's MOMENTARY LAPSE OF REASON and '94s DIVISION BELL. But the second set is the true keeper of the two. Having made its tour debut on the 25th anniversary of the Apollo moon landing, DARK SIDE loses none of its glow when transferred to a live setting. David Gilmour ably handles Roger Waters' vocal parts, and emphasizes instrumental interludes--"On The Run," for instance, sounds like a true precursor to The Orb's ambient noodlings. The radio hits ("Money," "Us and Them," "Brain Damage") are all re-interpreted enough to sound novel, but still retain a comforting familiarity. Recorded live in Europe and The United Kingdom in 1994. Recorded at Earls Court Arena, London, England. Delicate Sound of Thunder CD music He's known to many as an inoffensive pop balladeer, but at the arguable peak of his career in the late '70s, Billy Joel released his darkest, most emotionally charged album. THE STRANGER abandons the grandstanding and broad melodic sweep of Joel's earlier records for a more intimate, introspective sound, effectively communicating Joel's ruminations on the perils of life and love. "Movin' Out" is something of an existentialist anthem, chronicling the way people's dreams are often irreparably crushed. The ominous-sounding title tune examines the many guises with which lovers disguise themselves in their attempts to entrap and deceive each other. "Only the Good Die Young" is hedonism at it's most iconoclastic. Even "She's Always a Woman," ostensibly a romantic piano ballad, is full of thorny, less-than-complimentary observations about its subject. Joel's emotional honesty would never be this clear-eyed and unabashed again. Recorded at A&R Recording, New York, New York. Composer: Billy Joel. Personnel: Billy Joel (vocals, harmonica, piano, keyboards, synthesizer); Gwen Guthrie, Lani Groves, Patti Austin, Phoebe Snow (vocals, background vocals); Steve Khan (guitar, acoustic guitar, electric guitar, 12-string guitar); Steve Burgh (guitar, acoustic guitar, electric guitar); Hugh McCracken (guitar, acoustic guitar); Hiram Bullock (guitar, electric guitar); Dave Brown (guitar); Hugh MacDonald (acoustic guitar); Richie Cannata (fiddle, flute, clarinet, saxophone, soprano saxophone, tenor saxophone, organ, keyboards, wind); Dominic Cortese (accordion); Phil Woods (saxophone, alto saxophone); Richard Tee (organ); Liberty DeVitto (drums, percussion); Ralph MacDonald (percussion). Delicate Sound of Thunder buy CD music After a protracted legal battle over the rights to the Pink Floyd name, David Gilmour, Nick Mason and Richard Wright released 1987's A MOMENTARY LAPSE OF REASON despite Roger Waters' protests. Retaining collaborators from Floyd's past (like producer Bob Ezrin), this Gilmour-led version of the band crafted a number of songs that were as cerebral and introspective as anything Floyd had done in the past. The first single, "Learning to Fly," served as the unofficial anthem for this latest chapter of Pink Floyd. The Andy McKay/Gilmour-penned "One Slip" uses the requisite bells and whistles along with Tony Levin's impressive stick solo to guarantee it a prominent place in the band's canon. "The Dogs of War" and "On the Turning Away" are perfect commentaries on the conservative mindset shaping the '80s at the time. The former is an ominous screed composed at a time when the Cold War was still a reality, and the latter is a swipe against the self-absorption of the Me Decade. All tracks have been digitally remastered. Recorded at Astoria, Hampton; Britannia Row Studios, London, England; A & M Studios, Los Angeles, California; Can Am Studios, Los Angeles, California; Village Recorder, Los Angeles, California; Mayfair, London, England; and Audio International, London, England.
