On his third official studio LP (and first for Roc-A-Fella/Def Jam), Jadakiss branches out from the traditional East Coast boom-bap he's been known for since putting it down with the Lox. With contributions from a lengthy list of guest artists and producers, THE LAST KISS sees Jada flirting with Dirty South crunk, ATL trap rap, and synthesizer-driven radio-friendly hip-hop. On the lyrical side, the D-Block representative remains as combative as ever, spitting aggressive one-liners and clever boast-fueled rhymes. From the outset, Jada proclaims that he's come to bring listeners "slick talk, pain, and torture." The Yonkers lyricist lays down a list of head-scratching hypotheticals alongside Nas on the impressive "What If" and composes a heartfelt message to his deceased friend on "Letter to B.I.G." The eclectic production comes courtesy of Swizz Beatz, Ne-Yo, the Neptunes, Mr. Porter, Eric Hudson, Buckwild, and Sean C & LV, among others.

XXL (Magazine) (p.107) - "The self-explanatory Faith Evans duet 'Letter to B.I.G.,' paints a poignant portrait of the current state of hip-hop....The album's true gem, though, is the Jazmine Sullivan-guested 'Smoking Gun'..." Last Kiss Music Review Average Rating: (4.4 out of 5 stars) List All Reviews I Gotta Give it 4/5. I've been a LOX fan since the shiny suits, so don't take this the wrong way.
My man Kiss came waaaayyy hard, as usual, but I thought there was something missing. 'Something Else' was garbage and the remix was worse. 'What If' is like a half-ass rehash of 'Why' for sure, and there were a few more okay songs that weren't special at all.
On the other hand, there were some joints that begged to be repeated. The first two singles, 'Can't Stop Me' and 'By My Side' with Ne-Yo are prime examples. The album opener, 'Pain & Torture', I could listen to that joint all day. 'Smoking Gun' is one of his deep joints, as well as one of his best songs ever. 'Things I've Been Through', with Luther is amazing, another joint you could just repeat and ride out.
You gotta take the good with the bad on this one. The good outweighs the bad for sure. Cop this album right now, or you're an enemy to hip-hop. Submitted by Rob (Ohio) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 3 of 3 found this helpful.

"What if you never knew things that you needed to know... Even tho the date was constantly being pushed, this album is just what the game needed. Tracks 1-2-5-6-7-8-9-14-15 are stand alone reasons to have this album. Go buy it, cuz he put out enough tapes with bangin tracks complimentary. One More Step ft. Styles P was one of my favs, also including What If with Nas, and Smoking Gun with Jazmine Sullivan. And Pain and Torture is one of the best intros i've heard in a while and is quite possibly the gem of this album. Stress Ya is amazing too although I thought Barrington Levy was gonna be on it its still a bangin track. Come and Get Me is an essential track for the album cuz things just aint the same without Sheek Louch. Death Wish was a good outro but like I said, tracks like that were just one of many from the collection of tapes he put out before this album, thas why its a bonus. Overall, this album is actually worth your moola. Submitted by Ali (Wilmington DE) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 2 of 3 found this helpful.

GeorgiaMan Whoever talks bad about this album is not a true JadaKiss fan. I've been a fan since they were just doing guest appearances on Puffys album...this album is a classic. It has everything mainstream, hardcore,rNb,and lyrics. This dude is off the yam with those lyrics.I think Jada deserves a grammy for this album. He is still hard giving you alittle more and staying current. You can't just do the same old music forever you have to switch up sometime and this is what he did but you can still hear the hardcore lyricist..Jada...you the man!
