Standard Screen; Soundtrack English; Blue Ray HD-DVD While driving back to his Beverly Hills hotel, millionaire corporate raider Edward Lewis takes a wrong turn and ends up on Hollywood Boulevard, where he meets prostitute Vivian Ward. She steers him back to his hotel, charming him along the way, and he decides to hire her for the rest of the evening. In the morning, Edward realizes that he could use an escort for the week, so he hands Vivian $3000 to stay -- and sends her on a fantasy shopping spree. What begins as a purely business transaction develops into something more, but can a poor prostitute and a rich businessman really live happily ever after? In the Cinderella story that made Julia Roberts a star, a corporate raider hires a hooker to pose as his girlfriend for a week... and falls in love. Meanwhile, she wonders if the straight life - with him - might be a dream come true. Academy Award Nominations: Best Actress--Julia Roberts. Script was developed at the Sundance Film Institute. According to the July 1991 "Esquire," Robert Garland, Stephen Metcalfe, and Barbara Benedek all contributed to the development of the screenplay. Earlier versions of the screenplay were more downbeat and realistic, emphasizing the darker side of the relationships. Director Garry Marshall is often credited with turning the film into a more romantic, upbeat fairy tale.
The film utilizes clips from the film "Charade" (1963) and the television series "I Love Lucy."
Lee Ashley arranged and performed Vivaldi's "Four Seasons."
Shot on location in Los Angeles, California in Technicolor, beginning July 24, 1989 and completed October 18, 1989, using Panavision equipment. Titles and opticals by Cinema Research Corporation and main title design by Robert Dawson.

Another working title for the film was "3000" or "Three Thousand," referring to the amount of money Julia Roberts' character was paid for her services.

Very Classy! This is the best Hollywood could ever do...considering the touchy subject matter of this film. My 75 year old mother watched it more than 30 times, at last count. Richard
Gere was perfectly cast for his roll. Talk about debonair--that is Mr. Gere! Julia Roberts' roll is similar to Audrey Hepburns' roll in "My Fair Lady"...from free-and-easy, to an elegant lady. Julia was captivating.

Pretty Woman review
$22.15 Ingmar Bergman has stated that THE MAGIC FLUTE had long since been an inspiration to him by the time he directed this movie version of an actual staging of Mozart's opera. In Emanuel Schikaneder's libretto--performed here in Swedish instead of German--Prince Tamino (Josef Köstlinger) is sent by the mysterious and powerful Queen of the Night (Birgit Nordin) to rescue her daughter, ...

Pretty Woman review
$32.45 Packed with an all-star cast, Diane English's (MURPHY BROWN) contemporary version of THE WOMEN showcases the talents of Annette Bening, Meg Ryan, Jada Pinkett Smith, Candice Bergen, and Debra Messing. Like the 1939 original, the film deals with the relationships among a close-knit group of female friends, who, when their marriages fail and their lives are on the verge of falling apart, turn to each other for support. On the surface, Mary (Ryan) appears the happiest of the bunch, but her life changes instantly when her best friend Sylvia (Bening) discovers that Mary's husband's having an affair. The actresses frequently appear on screen as an ensemble, exhibiting a relaxed, compelling chemistry. The film feels cluttered at times, but perhaps that is fitting considering how much each female character has on her plate with regards to family, work, marriage, and friendship. Eva Mendes appears as the jaw-dropping beauty who is partially to blame for the fallout of Mary's marriage. As Mary's mother and the voice of wisdom, Bergen delivers the film's best lines with sarcasm, wit, and charm.
As in the SEX AND THE CITY movie, the message here seems to be that before finding love with a man, a woman must truly love and know herself. While Mary's high-society social standing enables her to start a fashion line on a whim and makes her self-transformation somewhat easy, female viewers from all walks of life are likely to recognize something relatable in the many women characters driving ...

$27.85 THE ENGLISH PATIENT is an epic, sweeping adaptation of Michael Ondaatje's richly layered, WWII-era novel chronicling two periods in the life of European explorer Count Laszlo Almasy (Ralph Fiennes), whose torrid affair with a colleague's wife (Kristin Scott Thomas) is countered by the beginning of the war, allegations of Nazi sympathies, and disfiguring injuries. The patient's stay at the ruins of an Italian monastery under the care of an ...
| | Underworld: Rise Of The Lycans Blu-ray (2009) Widescreen; Dubbed; Subtitled
Pretty Woman movie DVD
$27.65 The third film in the UNDERWORLD saga goes back hundreds of years to explain the origins of the feud between the vampire Death Dealers and the werewolf Lycans. Taking over directing duties from Len Wiseman is rookie Patrick Tatoupolos, known for his creature-designing duties in GODZILLA (1998), I AM LEGEND (2007), and the first two films in this series. Less an action-horror film than an old-fashioned "sword-and-sandal" film with monsters, RISE OF THE LYCANS finally gets to the root of why those vampires and werewolves really can't stand each other. Ruled by Viktor (Bill Nighy, VALKYRIE), the aristocratic, vampiric Death Dealers keep the wolflike Lycans as slaves. When a captive Lycan woman births a human boy, Viktor resists the urge to kill ...
