| | Sympathy Anagogic Tyranny CD Sympathy Discography of CDs
Technicality and brutality have a head-on collision on the latest release from Sympathy. Hailing from Canada, the brainchild of Dharok has been aforce in the extreme metal underground for several years now. Having already released 2 critically acclaimed full lengths and an EP while essentiallybeing a 1-man band, Sympathy returns with a third full length that sees him reaching out and adding other musicians to the mix, including Jeff Lewis(Abolishment of Hate, Mortification) and Jim Austin (Into Eternity) on drums. As a result, Anagogic Tyranny is the band's most cohesive soundingalbum yet. Dharok takes his trademark mix of aggressive thrash, technical brutal death, and harsh black, and ups the ante with songs that take hissound to an entirely different plain. The compositions are more complex, the playing more technical (featuring some of the fastest playing Sympathyhas ever performed), and the songs are unpredictable, as elements of black, death, thrash, doom, and orchestral elements are melded together. Theguitars are absolutely crushing, and the leads by Jeff add delicious layers and textures to the compositions. One of the biggest changes is Jim's drums, which are powerful, aggressive, technical, and in your face. While being fast, brutal, and technical, the music can be very atmospheric at times, featuring lush musical landscapes to keep the listener interested. Anagogic Tyranny is easily the best release that Sympathy has put out to date, andits unpredictable, fast and furious pace will make your inner metal being giddy with pleasure. Sympathy's blackened death sound is recommended foranyone and everyone who even thinks they are a fan of extreme metal, and fans of bands like Suffocation, Immolation, Morbid Angel, and DimmuBorgir will find a new favorite band to love as they are throttled with the full on brute force of Anagogic Tyranny!SELLING POINTS• Third full-length album from long-standing band• 10 brand new songs• Features Jeff Lewis of Abolishment of Hate / Mortification and Jim Austin of Into Eternity• For fans of Suffocation, Immolation, Morbid Angel, Dimmu Borgir, and fans of death, black, thrash, and extreme metal• Reviews and advertising in major publications• Active Myspace and web promotionTRACKLIST1. | | Halford III: Winter Songs CD (2009) Special Edition; Digipak
Anagogic Tyranny CD music
$13.75 At first glance, Halford's entry into the crowded holiday market looks like a parody. Heavy metal and Christmas make for strange bedfellows, and WINTER SONGS' pastoral cover art -- which depicts Rob Halford staring wistfully (with a goatee and shades) into a soft, snowy pine forest -- screams Spinal Tap. That said, the Judas Priest frontman approaches yuletide standards like "We Three Kings" and "What Child Is This?" with the same conviction that he applied to Priest classics like "Electric Eye" and "Freewheel Burning" -- it probably helps ...
| | Lita Ford Wicked Wonderland CD (2009) Bonus Tracks
Anagogic Tyranny music CDs
$14.19 Though former Runaways guitarist Lita Ford has been absent from the recording industry since 1997, she hasn't exactly been idle. After releasing Kiss Me Deadly, her final album after a string of them in the '80s and '90s, the music scene -- and the industry with it -- changed, and alternative ruled the airwaves. Ford got married to Jim Gillette, former vocalist with hair metal rockers Nitro, and started a family. In addition, she relocated to the Caribbean. Wicked Wonderland is uncharacteristic of the pop-metal she released a decade ago. It's an in-your-face metal record, but ultimately it's a very studied and calculated 21st century pop-metal record. It's an album with explicit sexual content, examining S&M, bondage, power exchanges, and all manner of kink and crave in lyrics, words, and sleeve images. Ford wrote all of these songs with her co-producers Greg Hampton and Gillette. Gillette is also either a duet partner or backing vocalist on every track here. Hampton handles bass, keyboard, and other sonic duties, and there are a pair of drummers who alternate in Chris Collier and Stet Howland. The album's first single (and longest track), "Bed," was released exclusively to Stockroom.com, one of the leading suppliers of S&M and bondage gear on the internet. Ford claims that she and her husband have carved out a path to a happy family life, and it does seem that they detail it on this recording. Musically, while Wicked Wonderland is harder, edgier, ...

| | Kiss Lick It Up CD (1983) Remastered
Anagogic Tyranny album
$6.49 Digitally remastered by Joseph M. Palmaccio (Sterling Sound, New York, New York).
September 18, 1983 is a day that will go down in Kisstory. It was then that Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons, and replacement members Vinnie Vincent and Eric Carr took off their signature makeup and revealed themselves on MTV. LICK IT UP was released, and a new chapter unfolded.
Using the same production team as CREATURES OF THE NIGHT, Michael James Jackson, Simmons and Stanley came up with the same bone crunching sound as CREATURES, but with a slightly more polished feel. "Exciter" kicks off the album with a machine gun riff, which leads into Gene Simmons proclaiming he's "Not For The Innocent". The title track was a modest hit in the U.S., faired better in the U.K. and made for quite an entertaining video. "All Hell's Breakin' Loose" is a gritty streetwise track where Paul Stanley actually raps! "And On The 8th Day" is a powerful anthem that ...
| | Jesu Opiate Sun CD (2009) Digipak; Extended Play
Anagogic Tyranny CD music
$8.49 Whether or not it is his intention, Justin Broadrick's Jesu project continues to move into ever more song-oriented material, while never lessening the volume or the sheer melodic thud of his attack. Opiate Sun is released on Mark Kozelek's Cabo Verde imprint. Initially, it was conceived as the first of a projected two-part EP idea: Broadrick originally wanted each EP to feature a collaboration between his live (Dave Cochrane and Phil Petrocelli) and studio (Ted Parsons and Diarmuid Dalton) bands. In the end, Broadrick rejected the idea and plays everything here himself and combines all four songs on one release. Does that narrow the possibilities for the final product? Yes, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. These songs cover just under 26 minutes in length. The opener, "Losing Streak," comes dangerously close to a cough syrup-intoxicated Swervedriver -- with Broadrick's way up-front vocal sounding not unlike that of Adam Franklin, but it's even heavier, sludgier, and -- conversely -- more melodic. "Morning Sun," the closer, sounds like anything but. It is instead a dirgelike piece of droning, guitar-fueled funereal post-rock with a tortoise crawl of ...

Anagogic Tyranny CD music
$16.45 White Picket Fence is honest, unadulterated indie rock with a sense of urgency that gives their material absolute credibility… Not because of the way somebody can describe it, but because of the way that it exists intrinsically. Please listen for yourself before continuing, as everything else is secondary to the music. Since the band’s inception in 2008, White Picket Fence has been doing everything in their power to be heard. Equally at home in their van, the band has played non-stop to a variety of venues across the state, giving performances that have been praised both for their unique intensity and youthful charm.
