| | Chuck Loeb Between 2 Worlds CD (2009)
Coffee Shop album
$15.09 Creatively, Chuck Loeb has had his ups and downs over the years. Some of his albums have been disappointing, but other Loeb releases have been a lot more memorable. The self-produced Between 2 Worlds, it turns out, is among the veteran guitarist's more consistent efforts -- not to mention one of his more organic. Excessive production has been a problem for Loeb at times; having a great deal of production and programming is fine for electronica, new age, and hip-hop, but it can become quite an albatross in a medium such as improvisation-driven as jazz. Thankfully, Loeb doesn't overproduce on Between 2 Worlds, and his lyrical guitar playing has plenty of room to breathe this time. In terms of production, less is undeniably more on an album that emphasizes pop-jazz but also contains some straight-ahead post-bop. Between 2 Worlds, which was recorded in New York City and Berlin, Germany, tends to be commercial, although it is tastefully commercial. "360" and "Early Turns to Late," for example, fall into ...
| | Leonard Cohen Live In London CDs (2009)
Coffee Shop CD music
$15.89 After taking a decade-and-a-half vacation from live performance, septuagenarian singer/songwriter/saint Leonard Cohen returned to the stage in 2008 for a European tour. During his absence, his popularity had grown to such a degree that his London concert took place at the city's O2 Arena. With the gathered masses sounding suitably enraptured, Cohen can be heard delivering a long program that serves as both career summary and mission reiteration on this double-length live album (FYI, there's also a DVD ...

$11.39 ANTIQUE BLUES RADIOReview - Bill NolanWPKN-FM WPKM-FM - Voice of "Antique Blues" 89.5 & 88.7Bridgeport, CT / Montauk, NYhttp://www.wpkn.orgI'm in command of your two track teaser from your upcoming CD, and both songs are mighty fine tunes with track one coming out on top, as far as listener response goes. I have to admit "Done Love Wrong," is an excellent piece of work. I'm working "I Done Love Wrong" & every time I give it air, I get phone calls from our loyal listeners, both men and women, who dig it, want to know who you are, and where they can buy it!!! Do I hear a little bit of Janis Joplin, or Big Mama Thornton, who may have been your influences? Really looking forward to the full CD of your wonderful seething & sensuous vocal treatments of the blues genre. You're on the right track baby!!______________________________________WHO LET THE GIRLS OUT?WA Blues Soceity Bluesletter"...she appears to be loved by some, panned by others, and regardless of the vocal mega talent, has never been recognized by the right people. Her career has taken a hit recently due to personal issues. Her own 'personal' Bio tends to parallel that of Janice Joplin in many ways, at least in hopes, dreams, successes and failures. As her set continued, the vocal talent and stage presence became obvious. Her version of Red House combined great music and lyrics with gutsy, raw vocals and superior stage appeal. She finished with a Tina Turner song, Nutbush City Limits. This woman is a riveting performer, primarily in the rock and R & B genres. If you like this type of music, I highly recommend taking in one of her shows." Roy Brown______________________________________NOW HEAR THIS!ST. Helens, WA"But by far the most recognizable characteristic to her sound is her voice. That soulful growl can be mistaken for that of the late, great, Janis Joplin." Randy Sanders______________________________________LUSTY BLUES VOCALIST RETURNS...
