Celebrating 20 years with Atlantic Records, iconic Canadian rock act Rush releases RETROSPECTIVE III (1989-2008). The band that defined the term power trio, Rush pushed the envelope with each innovative release. RETROSPECTIVE III culls 14 vibrant tracks from the band's latter-day efforts--PRESTO, ROLL THE BONES, COUNTERPARTS, TEST FOR ECHO, VAPOR TRAILS, and SNAKES & ARROWS--many of which were underrated owing to their bold arrangements and deviation from tradition. Also included on the release are two special remixed tracks by guitarist Alex Lifeson and engineer Richard Chycki (Aerosmith, Dream Theater). The gem on III, however, is a previously unreleased live cut, "Ghost of a Chance," which was recorded during Rush's 2008 Snakes & Arrows Tour. A special edition version of RETROSPECTIVE III contains a bonus DVD with videos, live performances, and rare interview footage.
The Canadian prog-rockers have compiled songs from their 24 Gold records and 14 Platinum records into this latest greatest hits DVD/CD set. Included are 13 videos (some live), and 14 audio tracks including live material and remixes.Mojo (Publisher) (p.116) - 3 stars out of 5 -- "'Bravado' and 'The Pass' are emotive, beautifully weighted adult rock songs..." Record Collector (magazine) (p.89) - 5 stars out of 5 -- "Numerous catchy electro/acoustic strumalongs abound....It makes for seamless listening, with stadium numbers such as 'Bravado' and 'Animate' sitting amid funky elements." Way to many songs are missing and with a 2 disc set, they could have been included, as well as a few live cuts from Rush in Rio and Snakes and Arrows Live. Where is Show Don't Tell, Superconductor, Stick It Out, Cold Fire, Test For Echo, Sweet Miracle. Some of the missing songs are on the DVD that is included with the Special Edition. Please remix the entire Vapor Trails album!!! I do much recommend the version with bonus DVD, so you'll have a more complete selection of the best songs of this period in the carreer of RUSH. What I happily heard was the new remixes of One Little Victory and Earthshine. This is proof of how much Vapor Trails needs to be remixed!!!
The DVD has the best Rush videos ever! and The Colbert Report interview is very funny :D
I keep my 5 stars since the content of the album sounds great and it is a tight selection. But reading other reviews, I agree, some songs could have been included: Test for Echo, Cold Fire, Between the Sun & Moon, Resist (studio), Secret Touch (remixed)... Just to mention some other great songs. Submitted by mtzili (Mexico City, Mexico) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
2 cds? I can´t understand why the worst times of Rush deserved two CDs and the first period, until 1982, only one. Submitted by zeelias65 (Sâo Paulo, Brazil) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Good Collection But Could Have Been Three Discs! I bought Retrospective 3 for the remixes of "Earthshine" and One Little Victory, both of which are now much better than the older versions. This cd/dvd set consists of songs and videos from Rush's late eighties catalog to date. I totally agree with the reviewer that mentions this collection is incomplete as alot of songs have been left off. I have to mention that the packaging leaves something to be desired as it's hard to remove both the cd and dvd without scuffing them. A double jewel case would have remedied the problem. Retrospective, Vol. 3 album
$11.25 In the five years since their last full studio album, a covers EP (2004's FEEDBACK) and two live releases (2003's RUSH IN RIO and 2005's R30) hardly sated the throngs of Rush fans hungry for new music. SNAKES & ARROWS is all they could have possibly hoped for and dreamed about. The brash, contemporary vibe of 2002's VAPOR TRAILS has been shed as the trio returns to the polished production and complex arrangements of their most beloved works.
Woven into the later-era Rush song stylings are no ...

Retrospective, Vol. 3 songs
$7.49 What do you get when you combine catchy, in-your-face rock songs, explosive, on-stage energy and four hot girls? Atomic Blonde, a mixture of hard hitting drums, heavy punk guitar riffs, and vocals that go from sexy and melodic to "I need anger management" in seconds.Atomic Blonde is a four piece all female rock group that blends heavy guitar riffs with emotionally charged melodies. The group was established in Nashville, TN in 2004, where they are currently based. Their unique sound can be classified somewhere in between the Hard Rock and Active Rock genres, and have had most success with airplay on Active Rock stations. Their songs are generally compared to artists such as Hoobastank, Daughtry, The Distillers and Flyleaf.Starting out, the hard rock quartet called themselves Glass Lily. It wasn’t long before they realized that their original choice didn’t adequately describe their high-energy, guitar-heavy sound. The girls toyed around with several ideas before someone suggested they somehow incorporate the word ‘atomic’ into their name. They immediately knew they were onto something. After choosing the second half of the new name, which refers to the hair color of the band’s fiery front-woman, Atomic Blonde was born. As if it were the final piece of the puzzle, the rechristening was just what the band needed. For the ...
