EMBE Marimba Band is from Evergreen Community Charter School, a K-8 school in beautiful Asheville, NC. Evergreen is a learning community committed to the pursuit of excellence in the holistic education of mind, body, and spirit. It's an inspiring place where students are prepared for successful lifelong learning, environmental responsibility, and service. For the past six years, music director, Sue Ford has directed the school's band program, not a regular school band but a middle school multicultural beat ensemble made up of Zimbabwean style marimbas and a variety of other homemade percussion instruments. GeorgeJazz Trumpet, Drums, Composer/Arranger & EducatorDavid began the study of trumpet in 1965 under the instruction of Les Beigle, noted Seattle trumpeter.In 1969, he graduated from Snohomish (WA) High School, where he played solo trumpet in the high school band under the direction of Edward Peterson.David received his Bachelor of Music degree with honors from Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle in 1980. Instructors included Gary Peacock, Jim Knapp, Butch Nordal, Art Lande, and Julian Priester.For the next three years, he performed as a trumpet soloist on the cruise ship S.S. Independence, Honolulu, Hawaii.
