Captain Sad and His Ship of Fools album for sale by Cowsills was released Mar 24, 2009 on the Now Sounds label. The Cowsills' fourth album was one of their last real peaks. Though they would score big with the HAIR soundtrack the following year, this 1968 album contains their last non-soundtrack hit single, "Indian Lake." It also marks the family band's musical maturation; while there's still plenty of Mamas-and-Papas-esque sunshine-pop, there are also some Beatles/Beach Boys-influenced, psychedelic-tinged baroque-pop tracks, some even bearing a surprising hint of melancholy.
