| | Petula Clark Open Your Heart CD Petula Clark Discography of CDs
(2 Customer Reviews)
This is not your run-of-the-mill Petula Clark anthology. Rather, it consists of a wealth of previously unreleased material by the British songbird who lit up the pop charts in the 1960s. These tracks are of a later vintage--the '70s and beyond--but many of them were produced by Tony Hatch, who oversaw Clark's '60s blockbusters. Also included on this love-themed Valentine's Day release are alternate takes, extended mixes, and tracks seeing the digital light of day for the first time. Petula Clark Open Your Heart Songs Open Your Heart Music Review Average Rating: (5 out of 5 stars) Amazing range of styles for distinctive vocalist How is it possible for one artist to sound so good in a variety of styles of music yet still have an inimitable sound?Petula Clark manages always to display her one of a kind voice-you know it's her-yet mold it to styles from pop to country to light disco to gospel on this one CD. Wait till you hear her live recording of A Song for You; she makes a song hundreds of vocalists have done her own.The one common element to all her music is the emotion she imbues in it all. What a great collection! GREAT NEW COLLECTION I was very surprised that my local store that specializes in Oldie CDs had this new Petula Clark surprise this past Friday (based on CCM's own release). Representing more of Pet's 70s material that has been in the vaults, plus two new recordings from 2008, added with an unreleased track from those sessions for 2009 covers a lot of ground. I am so delighted that the compilation producer, Mr. Pierson found some English versions of French songs recorded in the 70s. SWISS VALLEY and THANK YOU MY LOVE were issued on the AZ label in France in 1974 (the latter song as "Thank You My Lord"). Hearing both in English for the first time is a joy. The new remasters of Wedding Song, a longer unreleased Serenade Of Love, an alternate vocal on C'est Ca Ma Chanson, and remaster of the delightful Silver Spoon are real treats. Though I've differed with the producer's work in the past, this delightful set is a must for every Petula fan. Mr. Pierson's other great accomplishment was getting issued the track "Fly Away" from the 1981 film "Never Never Land" on Pet's 2000 Anthology on Hip-O. If a second issue of Love Songs comes along via CCM, I hope it will include "Fly Away", several 80s Scotti Brothers tracks that have not made CD yet (Blue Eyes Crying In The Rain, After Glow) and the one remaining duet track with Sasha Distel of "Taking It On" released on Polydor in 1973. It's A-side (Lead Me On) is on DUETS, but need the B-side, which is the better song. We can only hope for more, and you will enjoy this 21 track serenade. Open Your Heart album
$18.05 Growing up among Afro-Americans in Berkeley, CA, Greek-American Johnny Otis (born John Veliotes) always identified strongly with people of color. Before he had attained the age of 20 he was gigging with black jazz bands throughout the Southwest, and eventually organized an ensemble deliberately patterned after Count Basie's orchestra. This highly charged album of historical musical artifacts documents the very beginning of Johnny Otis' recording career. With one apparently unobtainable exception, the Classics Blues ...

Open Your Heart songs
$9.95 Soul belter J.J. Jackson is best known for his 1967 smash, "But It's Alright," but he has some fine singles and a couple of excellent albums as well, and 1967's But It's Alright on the Calla label is one of them. Kicking off with the infectious title track, the record alternates between flat-out rockers like "I Dig Girls," "Come See Me ...

Open Your Heart CD music
$18.79 This CD contains B.B. King's first ABC-Paramount studio efforts -- Mr. Blues (1962) and Confessin' the Blues (1965), respectively. While there are inevitable similarities between the projects, offering them back-to-back allows listeners an acute sense of King's rapid maturation and development during what was by all accounts the nexus of the guitarist/vocalist's career. The dozen-song Mr. Blues was a haphazard start for King with ...
