Thirty years ago Wayne was unsure of whether to pursue music or philosophy. After a ten year break from music, he realized if he couldn't sing about what he saw and knew it wasn't worth it. His songs are inspired by the forces of love and evil. Frequently they offer narratives of characters whose lives have been damaged by wrong choices or circumstance. The spirit of the album is somber and uplifting. It will make you reflect about what matters in life. The same tone and tenor that can be found in his philosophical book 'Power, Love and Evil: Contribution to a Philosophy of the Damaged' resonates in these songs. Wayne is an Australian who now lives in Hong Kong. He was really fortunate there to find such a great group of musicians. Peter Scherr produced, recorded and mixed the album. Ex-Eurogliders guitar player Guy Le Claire and Professor of Music at Hong Kong University, Manoleta Mora, play guitars. Shanghai-based Australian Nick McBride plays drums. A couple of tracks also include two close friends who he played music with in the early 1970s, Janusz Sysak on guitar, and Sid 'the slow man' Kidman keyboards. And Ragnheidur (Rani) Olafsdottir, a singer with a critically acclaimed album of Icelandic folklore provides backing vocals. These songs have been years in the making. Inspired by singer-songwriters of the early 70s, his music combines a raw rock attitude with elemental lyricism. The real strength of any album is in its songs. And this one has them in spades. "Gypsy Boots" is a sexy, stomping country blues-rock anthem that begins with a fiddle and acoustic guitar.
