Closed Captioned; Soundtrack English Ira Levin's best-selling novel is the basis for this incredible film about the perpetuation of a new race of Hitlers. When one of his proteges locates the elusive Nazi war criminal Dr. Josef Mengele (Peck), famed Nazi hunter Ezra Lieberman (a wonderful Olivier) stumbles on Mengele's grand scheme to murder 94 seemingly unconnected men -- a scheme that could somehow launch the Fourth Reich. The character of "Josef Mengele" is based on the real-life Nazi doctor Mengele, who performed inhuman genetic experiments on thousands of Jews, both children and adults, at the Auschwitz concentration camp in Poland during World War II. Mengele managed to escape capture at the end of the war, and in reality was never found.
Laurence Olivier was named Best Actor of 1978 by the National Board of Review. His character, "Ezra Lieberman," was loosely based on noted Nazi hunter Simon Wiesenthal.
Scenes set in Paraguay and Brazil were, in fact, shot in Portugal. Boys From Brazil Reviews: "...THE BOYS FROM BRAZIL presents a gripping suspenseful drama..."
-- Har., Variety "...THE BOYS FROM BRAZIL is a good job....One of those films where you get a bag of popcorn and settle back to a make-believe world..."
-- Harold C. Schonberg, New York Times

Not Too Far Out Anymore With cloning on the scientific menu, its not out of the question that some day a not very nice person could come back. That said, just sit back and watch three masters at work. With Olivier, Peck and Mason, who needs reality? Submitted by robert_hensley (Knoxville, TN, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Boys From Brazil DVD
$7.05 Definitely not for those who are faint of heart, Renato Polselli's DELIRIUM is a truly shocking piece of 1970s Euro-exploitation cinema. Although the plot makes the film sound like a giallo, DELIRIUM is actually 100 minutes of lunacy that pays lip service to its complex and absurd story. It stars Mickey Hargitay as Dr. Herbert Lyutak, an unhinged sex maniac who brutally abuses his female victims before killing them. Fortunately, his wife is turned on by Lyutak's victims, although her increasingly disturbing visions of medieval torture and lesbian orgies threaten her already tenuous grip on reality. Shocking, darkly comic, and unspeakably sleazy, DELIRIUM is an unforgettable experience. This ...
| | Janet Jackson - From Janet. To Damita Jo: The Videos DVD (2004)
Boys From Brazil movie DVD
$14.15 Janet Jackson has had a wild ride in the quest toward diva-dom. Starting out with the dubious distinction of being Michael Jackson's kid sister; she startled the American music scene with a precocious start with CONTROL. Her happy, snappy, pop songs were apparently the right equation for an audience hungering for the ultimate in catchy songs. With each album, she advanced several notches in her journey to rule the R&B scene, and eventually surpassed the gloved one's influence. This collection of music videos from four Virgin albums, JANET, THE VELVET ROPE, ALL FOR YOU, and DAMITA JO, represents Ms. Jackson as a mature women in her prime. The smiley girl from next door is long gone, replaced by a remarkably sexy and impossibly cool player who knows she rules the universe and is ready for a sexual challenge. From the mellow, almost jazzy romance in "That's The Way Love Goes," to giddy love song "Together Again," and the hypnotic funk fest in "Go Deep," Jackson's dual mission in life seems to be to party and create passion of the most outrageous kind.
As usual, the other great strength of these videos are how they showcase Jackson's other main talent in dance. Like her brother, she has always ...

Boys From Brazil film
$11.09 A brutally comic tale about a group of London friends who find themselves deep in debt to an East End tough, LOCK, STOCK AND TWO SMOKING BARRELS is quick-paced, stylized, and highly entertaining. In his debut feature film, director-writer Guy Ritchie weaves a tangled web of shady, blithely eccentric characters and several storylines, all of them coming together in a gleeful explosion of murder and mayhem. When streetwise charmer Eddy (Nick Moran), the son of steely bar owner JD (Sting), botches a gambling scheme with his dad's nemesis, porn king Hatchet Harry (P.H. Moriarty), he's got one week to come up with 500,000 pounds or he loses his fingers--and so do his friends Tom (Jason ...

| | Leatherheads DVD (2008)
Boys From Brazil film
$7.20 From his casual charm to his cleft chin, George Clooney has frequently drawn comparisons to an actor of another age: Cary Grant. With his third directorial effort, the Oscar winner pays homage to the style of films that helped make Grant famous, such as BRINGING UP BABY and HIS GIRL FRIDAY. In 1925, when LEATHERHEADS takes place, professional football is a joke, especially when compared to its more respected college cousin. Teams across the country are folding, and player Dodge Connelly (Clooney) will do anything to keep his own team, the Duluth Bulldogs, from folding. The enterprising (read: scheming) Dodge steals Princeton star and war hero Carter Ruthford (John Krasinski, THE OFFICE) from his school, and soon the Bulldogs are winning, but it's the game of football that is the real champion as fans pack the stadiums. Meanwhile, reporter Lexie Littleton (Renée Zellweger) begins investigating Rutherford's past, thanks to a tip from one of the star's old war buddies that he may not be all he seems. The pre-regulation football is dirty, but it's far cleaner than the action when Dodge and Carter vie ...
