As a young boy growing up in Montecarlo, Georgia, Darrin sings in the church choir alongside his mother (Faith Evans). He and his mom leave town after the choir discovers that she has been singing rhythm and blues in a local club. Twenty years later, Darrin (Cuba Gooding, Jr.) is a broke, junior-level advertising executive in New York City who has just been fired. Summoned back to Montecarlo when his only living relative dies, Darrin discovers that he stands to inherit her estate if he can revive the choir at his old church and win the annual Gospel Explosion. Against the odds, Darrin assembles a first-rate choir of talented quirky characters. He also recruits Lilly (Beyoncé Knowles), a jazz singer and single mother who just may steal his heart and help him find himself. Rich with impressive musical talent culled from the worlds of gospel, hip-hop, and R&B, the choir includes members of The O'Jays, as well as T-Bone, Melba Moore, Angie Stone, the Reverend Shirley Caesar, Zane, and Montell Jordan. Directed by Jonathan Lynn, the film also stars LaTanya Richardson, Steve Harvey, Wendell Pierce, Mike Epps, and Rue McClanahan. It Was Very Up Lifting I watched The Fighting Temptations this morning, I loved the entire movie. It moved me as if I was in a church filled with the singers. I work at a Correctional Center and I am going to see if I can get to be one of their weekend movies to watch because I thought about them alot while listening to the song No Matter I Do I Fall Short. I guess that is the name of the song that won the contest for them. Thank you for making a movie I really enjoyed watching and was moved by. If you can will you please write and let me know who sing that song I also would like for the Inmates to sing it when they sing their gospel songs on Thursday of each week.

$15.15 This in-depth, thoughtful, and extremely disquieting documentary takes a good look at the controversial phenomenon of "Munchausen Syndrome by Proxy," in which mothers supposedly fake or cause a child's illness to attract attention and sympathy. Though the theory's original proponent has since been discredited, diagnoses of "MSbP" continue, often with shattering results for the families involved. Academy Award nominee Amy Sommer directs this poignant, unflinching 100-minute film with intelligence and sensitivity.
