A blistering compilation of filthy garage riffs and greasy organ chords, ACID DREAMS argued emphatically upon its release in 1979 (at the height of the punk explosion) that the genre had already been around a long time. Mid-'60s groups like Outcasts and White Light rip apart a chord progression every bit as ferociously as their progeny did a decade later. While bands like the Zakary Thaks, Music Machine, the Painted Faces, and Balloon Farm will already be familiar to fans of the NUGGETS sets or the PEBBLES series, there are many rough-hewn classics by names less known including Faine Jade's "It Ain't True," Minds Eye's "Help I'm Lost," and "Velvet Illusions" by a band of the same name.
