The Desert Trilogy and Other Sacred Songs Music by Denice Rippentrop Performed by The Sonoran Desert Chorale and The World VoicesEstablished in 1994, the Chorale has continues to evolve from that first emotional and satisfying concert to a highly regarded and artistically sophisticated choral organization conducted by Mr. Jeff Harris. The Chorale originates from Phoenix, AZ. Audiences have experienced traditions spanning time from the ancient folk music of Mongolia to the premier of modern compositions such as The Desert Trilogy by Denice Rippentrop. The Chorale performs a repertoire meant to demonstrate that music is a language which transcends our differences and accentuates our commonality.World Voices was formed in 1996 by Dr. Karle Erickson, Artistic Director & Conductor. Minneapolis, MN, is the home of the World Voices. An experience in New York City one summer in the late 1950’s was the influence that steered him into beginning a musical ensemble that exclusively performs global music. He spent 6 weeks in the Bronx with young people of all races, colors and creeds. He wanted to use music as a means to bring people together, to help get rid of the stereotypes and prejudices, to think outside our own comfortable boxes, and to further open our minds and souls to the fascinating differences and similarities that arise from varying cultural backgrounds.Composing innovative, high quality, sacred and secular choral music is the core of Denice Rippentrop’s professional and personal life. She uses her tremendous talent to bring modern choral music to audiences in a high creative yet accessible manner. Her works have been performed and broadcast in the United States and abroad. Desert Trilogy & Other Sacred Songs
$12.65 Len Snow:Country’s What He Chooses By Phil SweetlandMusic and Radio contributor, The New York Times NASHVILLE – When Len Snow’s debut single “Country’s What I Choose” soared to the top of the Billboard Country Singles Sales Chart for 8 weeks in 2006, it was the perfect example both of Snow’s immense musical gifts and his massive work ethic. The Ohio native wrote the up-tempo hit, produced and sang the recording, and then, with the help of the FYE chain of stores, sold it himself. “I got the bar code on the single, then I actually went to 170 FYE music stores and played live at each one,” Snow says. “We were selling between 80 and 300 CDs per store, and I signed every single one of ‘em.” This uncanny willingness to go the extra mile has been Len Snow’s way of doing business his whole life. He was the seventh of eight kids in a very musical family. Len’s late father – who remains his greatest hero 10 years after his passing – worked full-time days as an optician and part-time nights as the leader of a Country band. Snow has fond memories of carrying amps and gooseneck mike stands to his Dad’s shows at Moose Lodges and wedding receptions. The father taught the son a few chords on the guitar, but young Len had another passion: baseball. Starting at age 6, Snow was a gifted third baseman and catcher who led all Toledo prep players in hitting, earned a full scholarship to the University of Toledo, and was drafted by the independent Newark Buffaloes. But in his very first game as a professional, Snow collided with his left fielder on a pop fly. It “blew my foot all to pieces,” he says, and thus his baseball career slammed to a halt. Life went on, carrying Snow to the Wine Country in Northern California. He got married and rekindled his passion for music and songwriting. The painful breakup of that marriage led him to write all 12 songs for his debut album, including “Country’s What I Choose.” Len, who has a pair of wonderful sons named Lance and Luke, was hired to play weekends at a local winery. “I saw my Dad’s life opening before my eyes,” he says. But Snow took it even further, cutting the album and ...

Desert Trilogy & Other Sacred Songs
$8.55 All those who love the beatnik side of Stephen Bishop, the albums of James Taylor – above all those prior to Flag - the masterly melodies of the Beatles, and the soft acoustic atmospheres of Ink’s Liv Taylor, simply have to listen to Let Me Ride. They will not be disappointed.Max Tosi, originally from Cremona, a lengthy transit in Milan, but Sardinian by adoption (resident in Sassari for the last 11 years), gives the impression of having just stepped out of the Troubadour on a balmy evening in the mid-seventies with his live-act cassettes tucked under his arm. In effect the album Let Me Ride, although a studio album, has all the warmth and spontaneity of a confidential acoustic set recorded live in a small club. Priceless emotions for those who were brought up on bread and Mud Slide Slim or for those who for years have dreamed of travelling under a Californian sun towards San Buenaventura on the Fwy 101.Genuine passion, love for the ballad, artisan attention to detail and simple instrumentation with light touches of strings and brass. Ten original compositions, ten instant soft-focus snapshots which, for better or for worse, appear to have been taken on an old-fashioned Polaroid. No bluffing, only the fragile, inexpressible charm of daily sensations, of little stories told with a delicate and at times almost naive touch. The opening song “I have to make the time” illustrates Max Tosi’s musical offering in a nutshell. Tangible emotive intensity typical of the mood of seventies Taylor-style Californian song-writing while still retaining a distinguishable personal stamp of its own. Following in the wake are “Give me the way”, “I’ve been waitin’ for a long time” and the title track “Let me ride” where measured instrumental incursions and delicate strings arrangements higlight the melodic theme. Particularly convincing is the use of the Fender Rhodes in the harmonising, with the chords resting on the melodic line in the splendid tradition of Craig Doerge, Clarence McDonald, Steven Goldstein and company. Equally enjoyable are the tracks “Let me down on you”, “Freedom land” and “Late in the night” ...
