On her ninth studio album (her first since 2007's WAKING UP LAUGHING), country singer Martina McBride teams with hot Nashville producer Dann Huff (Keith Urban, Rascal Flatts) for a subtle updating of her tried and true sound. The guitars are a little louder and more rock-oriented on songs like the first single, "Ride," and the rollicking opener, "Wrong Baby Wrong Baby Wrong," but McBride's soul remains true to her Grand Ole Opry roots, keeping things from straying too far into crossover territory. Highlights include "Sunny Side Up" (the album's sole songwriting credit for McBride) and the sweet "I Just Call You Mine."
Personnel: Martina McBride (vocals).

Another great Martina cd Martina Mcbride never lets her fans down, this is a very good album. The songs are all great, the musicianship, the way it was recorded, and the singing first rate. She seems to be enjoying herself performing some these songs. Its like she found new energy while recording this. Highly recommended. Submitted by pedro830 (S. Florida) Was This Review Helpful? Too much faith in the production This is a very good production by Dann Huff, who also makes records for Faith Hill, LeAnn Rimes and others. It sounds very much as the mainstream country music today, it is made of the common cliches of the music today. It sounds very good, it´s a quite solid work but it lacks of originality. It´s a good record to listen to while you are doimg something else.

Shine
$8.99 While many of her contemporaries (including Trisha Yearwood and Patty Loveless) imbued their 2005 releases with a traditional bent, Martina McBride went one step further and recorded TIMELESS, an entire album of country classics, many of which date back to the 1950s and '60s. McBride's commitment to these songs is evident both on the disc's extensive liner notes (which present many facts about the tunes, such as who originally performed each one), as well as in her soulful, stirring performances. While every track here benefits from her nuanced delivery, McBride shines the brightest on a buoyant version of Ray ...
| | Martina Mcbride Waking Up Laughing CD (2007)
Shine
$8.99 Martina McBride is one of the most reliable female performers in country music. Her bright, sunny twang-filled albums have been appearing on the charts since she first arrived on the scene in 1992. On her ninth studio album, WAKING UP LAUGHING, McBride continues to mine a slick, honky-tonk-tinged pop vibe that expertly splits the difference between commercial anthems ("How I Feel") and slightly tougher material ("Cry Cry [Til the Sun Shines]"). With her nearly flawless voice fully intact, McBride also co-produced and wrote several songs on the album--including the smash single "Anyway" ...
| | Alan Jackson Good Time CD (2008)
Shine
$10.89 On his first traditional country album since 2004's WHAT I DO, Alan Jackson steps outside the comfortable routine he's created for himself in favor of creating a more personal and introspective work. The first album on which Jackson has written all of the songs all by himself, GOOD TIME is Jackson's most autobiographical album by some distance. "Small Town Southern Man" is a touching farewell to ...
| | Taylor Swift Fearless CD (2008) Enhanced CD
Shine
$13.65 Taylor Swift abandons any pretense that she's a teen on her second album, FEARLESS--which isn't to say that she suddenly tarts herself up, running away from her youth in a manner that's all too familiar to many teen stars. Swift's maturation is deliberate and careful, styled after the crossover country-pop of Shania Twain and Faith Hill before they turned into divas. Despite the success of her self-titled 2006 debut, there's nothing at all diva-like about Swift on FEARLESS: she's soft-spoken and considerate, a big sister instead of a big star. Nowhere is this truer than on "Fifteen," a kind warning for a teen to watch her heart sung from the perspective of a woman who's perhaps twice that age--a sly trick for the 18-year-old Swift. There may be a hint of youthfulness ...

| | Thurlow Training Wheels CD (2009)
Shine
$12.15 The evolution of Thurlow began in 2006, when Augustus Green (guitar/bass/vocals/beats) and Jacqueline Caruso (keys/vocals), spontaneously starting jamming and writing songs together in Gus’s parents’ basement. The two were working on solo material at the time that they both felt was stuck in a rut. When they began to fuse their styles and collaborate on their songwriting, without any pretense or forethought, the music came alive. And thus began their musical journey as Thurlow. ...
