(5 Customer Reviews)
Celebrating a decade of innovative and chaotic metal, Static-X returns with its sixth studio release, CULT OF STATIC, a collection of tight, aggressive, and bitter anthems. Kicking off with a revamped version of "Lunatic" (first heard on the PUNISHER: WAR ZONE soundtrack), with a special guitar solo by Megadeth's Dave Mustaine, STATIC instantly draws the listener into a cybernetic firestorm. And with tracks like the ferocious "Terminal" and the poignantly droning "Hypure," it's clear that Static-X remains one of the most riveting acts in the business. Once again working with producer John Travis (Kid Rock, Buckcherry, Suicide Silence), who also produced 2007's CANNIBAL, Static-X proves that brutal music still has mass appeal.
Personnel: Wayne Static (vocals, guitar); Koichi Fukuda (guitar); Tony Campos (bass guitar, background vocals); Nick Oshiro (drums).
Alternative Press (p.137) - 3 stars out of 5 -- "The band supplement their trademark chunky riffs with gloom-punk drone, ominous 'Hell's Bells'-style atmosphere and squiggly electro-interludes." Kerrang (Magazine) (p.54) - "[T]he stabbing, mechanised attack of Static-X distinguished them from their nu-metal peers, and six albums down the road they continue to pound away in the same fashion." Static-X Cult Of Static Songs Cult Of Static Music Review Average Rating: (4 out of 5 stars) homey said rock you out Pretty simple if you dig static-x you will dig this album. The songs are straight ahead metal. There really isn't a weak track on the album and I am looking forward to seeing them on tour. The first listen grabbed me and it has only gotten better with time.If your a fan of the band this one won't let you down Submitted by andrewshunter (southold) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
What am I missing OK, I've been a Static X fan since the first album, but am finding myself really disliking this album. 90% of the album just sounds like filler to me. I gave this album at least six listens to impress me, and it didn't. This album sounds like a half hearted slapped together effort to me. Over simplified to the extreme. What can I say? I'm addicted to Static-X! Ever since the release of their very first album titled Wisconsin Death Trip, I have been a member of the Cult of Static-X. Throughout the last 10 years, I have enjoyed every single one of their albums as they have been released with no exceptions, and I enjoy this new one as well. Cult Of Static is one of Static-X's best albums. All of the tracks on this CD are enjoyable, but my most favorites would have to be Hypure, Z28, Stingwray, and Skinned. Unfortunately, the best new song is one that is not even available on this album, and can only be obtained on another extended version that has two additional tracks titled W.F.O., and a Cover of Motley Crue's Looks That Kill. The song W.F.O. is one of the best songs that Static-X has ever done, and if you can get the version of Cult of Static which has that track on it, get it, it is definitely worth it. Looks That Kill is pretty good also.
There is yet another new song available for download on the internet only and it is a cover of Poison's song titled Talk Dirty To Me, and that one is not very good, in my opinion. The song sounds like it was sung by the Cookie Monster, and it is one of the very few songs done by Static-X that I do not enjoy. It is almost laughable when you hear it, but, I just find it to be more annoying than anything.

I would highly recommend checking this out! It's gone back to the days of when 'Wisconsin Death Trip' and "Push It" couldn't seem to "get out of the rut". 'Machine' was an album which meant "nu-metal" has pushed its peak to perfection. 'Cult of Static' has put those two records right on here so you're either a fan already or you're just curious for some industrial metal "ruckus". This album makes sense if you give it a chance! This band may not be as influential as Korn, but what amazes is the band has settled in a groove crossing whatever path it's "metal" on but definitely check 'Cannibal' out as it's overlooked on why 'Cult of Static' sounds as if it's laying on the foundation settled with 'Machine' than 'Wisconsin Death Trip'. Confused? Two listens it took and it's setting in. What I would not recommend is this is not the album to jump in to get an introduction of the band, believe me! $10.75 CAROLINA , the follow-up to Eric Church's debut, SINNERS LIKE ME, is half contemporary Nashville country, half old-fashioned 1970s-style country rock in the style of the Eagles. Highlights like first single "Love Your Love The Most" and the delicate ballad "You Make It Look So Easy" are blithely commercial country singles, but tracks like the unexpectedly electronic "Smoke A Little Smoke," which sounds like a fantasy collaboration ...

Cult Of Static music CDs
$12.05 Echo Kid was released by a different label (Fat Possum) and featured a lineup that was two-thirds different than the band that recorded Turbo Fruits' self-titled debut. Despite these fairly significant changes, the band tweaked its sound only slightly on its second album; the twang in founding member Jonas Stein's vocals and guitars still comes through loud and clear on "Trouble!," while "Lotta Lotta Ladies" and "Dear Moses" are just as rambunctious as anything on Turbo Fruits. However, it feels like Stein and company (including bassist Wes Taylor and drummer Zack Martin) tried harder this time: their playing is tighter, and even with song titles like "Mama's Mad Cos I Fried My Brain," the stoner vibe is a lot less noticeable. The band replaces that carefree, ...
