Of course, the team of losers catches on to the scam and, with new-found motivation, conspire to foil her plans. When the widow of the owner of the Cleveland Indians realizes that she is stuck with a small stadium in a cold climate, she decides that a move to a Southern, warmer climate is called for. Unfortunately the only way she can unload her stadium is due to low attendance, so she needs to plan for a losing and lackluster season. The team of misfits and losers that she has hired, though, decide that if they really pull through, they may not wind up in last place and not be the losers that the owner thinks that they are. This offbeat baseball comedy, starring Tom Berenger, Charlie Sheen, Corbin Bernsen and Rene Russo, was a surprise 1989 hit. Estimated budget $10-12 million.
Filmed in Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Cleveland, Ohio; Phoenix and Tucson, Arizona. Filming began July 18, 1988. Even though the film is set in Cleveland, only the outside of Cleveland's ballpark was used. For economic reasons, the scenes inside the ballpark were filmed in Milwaukee County Stadium.

Highly entertaining The bereaving wife of the dead owner of the "Indians" baseball team puts together a team of misfits and no-hopers in an attempt to give her just cause to move the franchise to a sunnier climate. When the coach and team find out about her plan they rally around in an attempt to stave off the ultimate humiliation, finishing last in their league. Not much baseball but a few laughs and lots of feel good factor.
Charlie Sheen, Tom Berenger and Corbin Bernstein star as the core of this no hope team. Submitted by spmcdonnell (United Kingdom) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No This review is for a different format.
Feel good movie for all sports fans... I hadn't seen Major League for a number of years and couldn't get a UK version.
Major League represents a sporting pick me up, that doesn't take itself too seriously.
When you look at the cast, in today's light, there are some serious actors here who have gone on to great careers.
If you want to feel good, and see an underdog come good, this is the film for you... Submitted by jolly.olly (Winchester, Hampshire, United Kingdom) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No This review is for a different format.

Bernardo Bertolucci's THE DREAMERS centers on three university students who adore the Cinematheque Francaise, and are fascinated by '60s culture--the music of Janis Joplin and Jimi Hendrix, the films of Jean-Luc Godard, and the writings of Susan Sontag and Chairman Mao. Their philosophical conversations about sexuality, love, politics, activism, and the Vietnam War; and their daily activities--going to the cinema, protesting in support of Henri Langlois, lounging around naked, and smoking dope--are a realistic reflection of the mood and energy of that era.
The plot involves Parisians Theo (Louis Garrel) and Isa (Eva Green), a brother-sister team with a strangely intimate connection. They befriend their American classmate Matthew ...

$23.45 Kate Hudson and Anne Hathaway go veiled head to veiled head in this bridal comedy. Childhood friends Liv (Hudson) and Anne (Hathaway) have dreamed of June weddings at the Plaza since they were kids, and now their fantasy is finally within reach. Both young women have gotten proposals, and they've booked their dates at the famed Manhattan landmark. But a mistake in the office of their wedding planner, Marion St. Claire (Candice Bergen), causes their weddings to be scheduled on the same day, and neither woman will budge. Harsh words escalate into sabotage, and each woman craftily plots the demise of the other's wedding until events reach a screeching, squealing pitch on a sunny June day.
With roles in films such as HOW TO LOSE A GUY IN 10 DAYS and MY BEST FRIEND'S GIRL, Hudson has perfected starring in light comedies. In BRIDE WARS, she doesn't take her usual romantic route, and she displays good chemistry with the always fine Hathaway. The romances between the brides and their respective grooms (EVERWOOD's Chris Pratt and REBA's Steve Howey) aren't the point; instead, ...

$35.09 THE PROPOSAL could have been a strictly script-by-numbers affair, but hilarious performances by Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds improve this romantic comedy. Publishing powerhouse Margaret Tate (Bullock, TWO WEEKS NOTICE) is used to getting her way. She bullies her ambitious assistant, Andrew Paxton (Reynolds, DEFINITELY, MAYBE), earning the ire of all the underlings at Colden Books in New York City. But Margaret, a native Canadian, finds her career in jeopardy when she is denied a visa and learns she will be sent northward. She forces Andrew to become her fiancé, but she’ll have to take a trip home to Alaska with him to prove to U.S. Immigration that their impending union is genuine.
What ensues is a combination of GREEN CARD, THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA, and GREEN ACRES, with the hell-in-heels boss trying to fake a romance with her assistant as she struggles to survive as a city girl in the country. However, THE PROPOSAL proves to be more than the sum of its parts; Bullock ...
