Standard Screen; Soundtrack English Awash in bluish light and sporting a fedora, Leonard Cohen seduces London’s O2 arena so fully and deftly that it’s impossible to believe the show marks his emergence from a 15-year touring hiatus. While this 2008 concert finds Cohen playing decades of his own qualified classics, this is no mere trip to the museum: legendary songs such as "Suzanne" and "Hallelujah" sear and smolder with whole new realms of depth and maturity. Leonard Cohen - Live In London Movie Review Average Rating: (5 out of 5 stars) Magic Night of Poetic, Lyrical and Musical Mastery! I saw this concert, but at an outdoor venue in Perth, Western Australia, in Feb 2009. My apprehension turned to pure joy as L.C. and his superb band had 15,000 people of all ages totally wrapped around their collective fingers. The sound engineers got it just right as well. I am so pleased that having first started enjoying listening to him in 1969, forty years on he is still ripening into an even more wonderful entertainer. This DVD is a great memento of a truly precious experience. A must for Cohen fans! Submitted by Jonathan (Donnybrook, Western Australia.) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 2 of 2 found this helpful.

Brilliant sublime sensational performer The DVD is absolutely brilliant, he is one of the world's greatest songwriters and performers. I am moved to tears when listening to his music and totally engrossed in the music, absorbed and mesmerised. Few performers have this hynotic effect but Leonard Cohen is a musical genius. I feel my life has been enriched by being able to attend his concert and enjoyed his music. Submitted by macushlamckee (South Golden Beach NSW Australia) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

For a man who only “aspired to be a minor poet” early in his career, Leonard Cohen evolved as one of the most important and influential songwriters of our time - a figure whose body of work achieves greater depths of mystery and meaning as time goes on. His songs have set a virtually unmatched standard in their seriousness and range. Sex, spirituality, religion, power - he has relentlessly examined the largest issues in vexing questions he raises. But those questions, and the journey he has traveled in seeking to address them, are the ever-shifting substance of his work, as well as the reasons why his songs never lose their overwhelming emotional force. Documentaries, awards, tribute albums and the ongoing march of artists eager to record his songs all acknowledge the peerless contribution Cohen has made to what one of his titles aptly calls “The Tower of Song.” As his old friend Lou Reed succinctly concluded during Cohen’s Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction: “We’re so lucky to be alive at the same time Leonard Cohen is.”
This collection presents the historic performance of 25 classics drawn from Leonard Cohen’s 40-year repertory, including such favorites as “Hallelujah,” “Everybody Knows” and “Suzanne.” Live In London was recorded live on July 17, 2008 at London’s 02 Arena, and fully captures and recreates the songwriting legend’s extraordinary return to the stage on his first tour in 15 years.

Leonard Cohen - Live In London film
$9.99 Leonard Cohen manages to garner fans from the unlikeliest of places despite his distinctly un-rock-&-roll appearance and a set of songs that veer closer to poetry than to their uneasy bedfellows in the pantheon of popular music. But viewers looking for an in-depth analysis of the man behind some of the most deeply introspective music ever recorded should look elsewhere: LEONARD COHEN: I'M YOUR MAN contains precious little insight from Cohen himself. Instead, director Lian Lunson has pieced together a warm tribute to the Canadian singer, drawing on the words of his many celebrity fans while also sharing generous amounts of footage from a Cohen tribute concert staged in 2005. The concert was filmed in Australia, with the bulk of the celebrity testimonials coming from performers at the show. The eclectic array of artists taking part include Nick Cave, Pulp's Jarvis Cocker, Martha and Rufus Wainwright, and folk legend Linda Thompson, all of whom perform unique interpretations ...

Leonard Cohen - Live In London video
$17.09 After taking a decade-and-a-half vacation from live performance, septuagenarian singer/songwriter/saint Leonard Cohen returned to the stage in 2008 for a European tour. During his absence, his popularity had grown to such a degree that his London concert took place at the city's O2 Arena. With the gathered masses sounding suitably enraptured, Cohen can be heard delivering ...
