| | Chimaira Infection CD Chimaira Discography of CDs
(5 Customer Reviews)
Continuing the arc they established on CHIMAIRA and RESURRECTION, Cleveland sextet Chimaira hone their Pantera-meets-Hatebreed approach with brutal, straightforward metalcore. Erasing any lingering associations with the late '90s nu metal scene they were unfairly lumped in with in their early days, the band deliver nine epics replete with monster riffs, pummeling double bass drums, and guttural vocals on their fifth full-length, THE INFECTION. Producer Ben Schigel (who also helmed THE IMPOSSIBILITY OF REASON and CHIMAIRA) returns to the fold and provides Matt DeVries and Rob Arnold's twin guitars the sonic thickness they need to dominate all comers.
Limited edition version includes a bonus audio track and a bonus DVD with making of, behind-the-scenes interviews, and more. With their groundbreaking blend of metal, hardcore and electronic elements, Chimaira made a splash with a self-released EP that sold nearly 10,000 copies. But it was 'The Impossibility Of Reason' that blew the lid off, putting the band on the road with Slipknot, Machine Head, Lamb Of God, and Ozzfest. 2007 saw the release of their first album for Ferret Music, 'Resurrection', which debuted on the Top 200 at #42.
Personnel: Mark Hunter (vocals); Rob Arnold, Matt DeVries (electric guitar); Chris Spicuzza (keyboards, electronics); Jim LaMarca (bass guitar); Andols Herrick (drums).
Audio Mixer: Zeuss.
Alternative Press (p.118) - 3.5 stars out of 5 -- "[These] Clevelanders have gotten sincerely heavy and brutal on their three successive releases, and THE INFECTION is a very solid effort." CMJ - "Chimaira's thick, heavy guitar brew is still bubbling, allowing for layers of riffage to occur simultaneously and blisteringly." Billboard (p.64) - "Chimaira strides confidently toward a new direction on its fifth album, THE INFECTION, propelling each song with unflagging determination." Infection Music Review Average Rating: (3.8 out of 5 stars) Classic I thought it was a great album. Same style as usual. I like Frozen In Time, Impending Doom, Broken Glass the best. Some cool riffs there. Good timing with drums and guitars on sequences. The Heart of It All is a good instrumental. Kept me bangin my head. This cd rocks. I gotta check out the DVD. These dudes are cool and funny on they're DVD's. Submitted by smoothe55555 (Burke, VA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 1 of 1 found this helpful.
older stuff is better this cd is much more groove metal and less of the thrash of the impossibility of reason days. after a few listens i started to enjoy it more but i was still looking and hoping for a much heavier cd, the drumming is superb though. Are you interested where it's "all-straight" groove metal? I know KsE is the reason for the "push" of metalcore's success, so who would think of Chimaira "trending water", but since 2005's S/T LP, things are going down where the metalcore genre can lay flat as its foundation and instead you get what LoG are doing with their LP 'Wrath', so if you are interested in "what's left" of the metalcore genre, you gotta go back to 2003's 'The Impossibility of Reason' because Chimaira's MAJOR choice of producer, since 2003 (except for the Resurrection LP, which is the apex of the metalcore genre's feat for the band, their best by far!), is Ben Schigel. I bet this record will STILL appeal to some, but will alienate others if this isn't the type of record you'll find you want to listen to. In my opinion, The Infection LP is not their best record compared to Resurrection. Another bet, this band will sound good live, at least by far. Sub-par I didn't get into Chimaira until their self-titled album and was blown away by it. And Resurrection was even better. I've listened to this album and nothing about it impresses me. All of the songs have very little to no momentum. They mostly drone along for about 4-5 minutes. It's not a bad album, but just nothing special. Which is a shame, because I had high hopes for this one. Submitted by Brendan (Texas) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
AWESOME RECORD! i have all of chimaira's cds and i must say this one surprised me, change in musicstyle it seems to have been slowed down and made more groovy than the thrash elements. but it doesnt affect the songs in any way theyre great, the riffs, solos everything. id highly reccomend this album to anyone, i got it a day before it cameout haha :) Submitted by viper_gto8 (somewhere) Was This Review Helpful? Infection album
$10.19 Principally recorded at The Theater Studio & Mindswerve, New York, New York.
Mindless Self Indulgence's brilliantly named The Frankenstein Girls Will Seem Strangely Sexy collects more of the group's outré, hip-hop-tinged industrial thrash. Singer Urine's bizarre falsetto sounds like a sped-up Jello Biafra, especially on tracks like "Boomin'" and "I Hate Jimmy Page." The album's 30 songs -- which sport titles like "Dicks Are for ...

| | NOFX 45 Or 46 Songs That Weren't Good Enough To Go On Our Other Records CDs (2002)
Infection music CDs
$9.79 This is a collection of NOFX tracks from various compilations, 7"s and EPs, plus a previously unreleased song and dub remix.
NOFX are masters of the punk ethic of self-deprecation, and it begs the question if they truly realize the mark they have made on the history of modern hardcore. After 18 years, the band that sums up its musical prowess humbly as "good," releases a staggering collection of B-sides, compilation tracks, and rare cuts (many of which were previously long out-of-print in their original 7" pressings).
A cover of the Seymour Simons standard "All Of Me" sets the tone for this collection, and boasts an attitude that really says it all; this band lives for doing things their way. It's easy to see how a song such as "Lazy" could have spawned many of the late-'90s ...

It seems like with each successive release, DevilDriver keep turning up the dial of heaviness. And on their fourth studio album, 2009's PRAY FOR VILLAINS, the group continues plowing forward with this approach. Screams, growls, raging riffs, and impressively tight drumming are all crucial ingredients to the DevilDriver metallic recipe. Produced by former Machine Head guitarist Logan Mader, PRAY FOR VILLAINS ...
