Superb! The three disc box set is a little pricey but if you're a Dylan fan, it's worth every penny. Highlighting the Oh Mercy period onward with outtakes, alternate takes, unreleased soundtrack work and live takes, there is an awful lot to listen to here and nearly all of it is terrific. The Red River Shore is the song that's getting a lot of attention and it's here with two versions. Only Dylan could write and produce such a fine piece of work and then not put it on the album he made it for. What we have here is one of the best looks inside the creative process, itself, that we have ever had the privilege of seeing. The Master This is a fine overview of the last twenty years in Dylan's career. Plenty of great tunes. The alternate takes are like new songs. There is no one like Dylan. By mjzakowski (La Grange Park, IL) This review is for a different format.
Simply Outstanding How DOES Dylan do it?! I can understand the difficulty they must have selecting which tunes to designate for album release. Bootleg Volume 8 confirms the obvious..there is just too much great material to choose from. Dylan is playing Montreal November 18...are we lucky! By faust8577 (Lorraine, Que. Not the Dyan I'm used to but I like it. Very enjoyable and diverse. Not the old Dylan, guitar and harmonica. He's got a lot of backup band in this. Although the band and arrangements are excellent it a different Dylan. I would have liked to see a couple more "classical Dylan" tunes.
