Though she distinguished herself as one of the more versatile and compelling R&B singers of the early `00s, Mya's presence on R&B radio diminished sharply in the latter half of the decade. After the relative commercial disappointment of 2007's LIBERATION (which didn't even see an American release), Mya left Universal Motown for Manhattan Records and recorded the uncharacteristically low-key SUGAR & SPICE in 2008. Though 2009's BEST OF BOTH WORLDS is far more of a mixtape than a Mya album, it at least finds the singer sounding more comfortable than she has in years, particularly on the gently propulsive "Like Me." Though Mya's contributions here are the most notable, the remainder of THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS features compelling tracks from Bone Thugs `N Harmony, Mobb Deep, Ginuwine, and Gucci Mane. Best Of Both Worlds
$21.49 Kaylah's warm inner glow shines though her voice, breathing new life into each song. We were quite impressed with her ability to go from a commanding full-bodied gospel to a subtle whisper in the same breath.Jeff Watson & Joey P. / ProducersKaylah Marin is my Sista with a poetic license to sing her heart out and make believers in this new world of Freedom and Obama Nation lovers. I feel very happy I have had the opportunity to work with Kaylah. We laughed a lot and even wrote a couple of Smashes...Check out her CD Loving Life,Let me know which songs you dig... LOVE NaradaNarada Michael Walden/ Producer Kaylah Marin is a songwriter, poet and neo soul vocalist born and raised in San Francisco, California. Kaylah first began writing and performing as a child with her Guatemalan-born father, Jazz saxophonist, Philip Marin, who instilled in Kaylah a love of music and dance rich within her Garifuna roots. He would take Kaylah to the many jazz bands that dotted San Franciscoâs streets, and her early performance skills were learned as a young girl accompanying her father, with guitar in hand, joining whatever house band was playing at the time. She developed what is now a huge voice, likened to Brenda Russel and Jennifer Hudson. Her current CD, âLoving Life,â produced by five time Grammy Award winning producer, Narada Michael Walden and Executive Producer Laurie Andrewsen of Epiphany Productions, Jeff Watson, and Joey P, is scheduled for release this January 2009. Kaylah has worked with award winning French filmmaker, Laurent LeGall, to produce her first video Loving Life. Her inspiring video has been chosen as one of three (of the hundreds made) for inclusion in the sanctioned documentary of Obamaâs race for PresidencylAs a teen, Kaylah performed professionally with techno band THE RIOTS; at the Digital BE IN in San Francisco. ONE, a song recorded with European group TRIBECA, won the Future Music Magazine Demo of the Month, while Electronica song X,On the Beach, by SIR VERE, also featuring Kaylah's vocals, played all over the clubs of Ibiza, a huge hit at the Manumission. Taking a temporary break from Electronica, Kaylah founded with Jalila Bell a non-profit dance, music and theater company, THE BUTTERFLY PROJECT, dedicated to promoting positive images of women in the arts. Kaylahâs next focus turned toward becoming a solo artist collaborating with other artists musically. Kaylahâs uniqueness is in her ability to connect with her audiences through her music and philanthropic service. She uses her singing and songwriting (that spans the spectrum of smooth jazz, hip hop, funky R & B with todayâs edgy ...

Best Of Both Worlds
$16.69 With loads of energy and Crosscore: apRon are unavoidable in 2009. Crosscore. â Never heard of it? Well, then you donât know apRon. On their brand new self-titled debut album the five musicians mix the straightforwardness and strength of crossover with the brutality and recklessness of hardcore. â and shake your speakers with their musical neologism Crosscore. How do these most intense apRon eruptions sound? âAs if Marilyn Mansonâs half-brother was having an affair with System of a Downâs sister â in Jim Morrisonâs unmade bedâ, says apRon singer Thomy. Right from the start âapRonâ points one thing out: Dumb clichĂ©s and stupid compromising are definitely not happening here! apRon are masters of the unexpected, and of the extremes! Breathtaking guitar riffs, a seemingly decadent urge to combine the uncombinable and pure violence as ever-reappearing foundation. âViolence is our Artâ, thatâs the bandâs main motto. âWe deliberately trigger the dual exchange of the stylistic devices of violence between band and audienceâ, explains drummer Medusa. âOur music is brutal, yes, indeed. But in the way of âA Clockwork Orangeâ- protagonist Alex DeLarge, who is everything but a dim, beating, stupid hooligan.âThe band name explains apRonâs way of seeing themselves as a collective: âEvery single person tries to keep up an outer appearance that works in every-day social lifeâ, guitarist ElMitch muses. âAn apron helps us keep our white vests clean.â In exactly this metaphorical way apRon want to give their audience what they are denied by social rules and restraint: the important and urgent possibility of regulating the omnipresent pressure in- and all around us. apRon shine brightly with their violent impulses that inspire logical reactions in fans of hard guitar music. Musical fortresses like âBroken Childâ, âSwallowâŠDrownâ or âWorld At Warâ have established themselves over the years in apRonâs live shows â and left the audience on several tours all across Europe no choice than to indulge in their anger, follow their rage and scream all their frustration out of their systems! But what is all that talk of violence all about? Violence is a three-headed angel for apRon: constructive force, Leitmotif and thoroughly considered expression of art. âAll this screaming, the noise, all this pure energy we release, are parts of our very sophisticated ...
