With Jason Gamer CD music
$6.69 âIf you canât fit in,â Jon Henry says, âstand out.â If the music industry were a high school, Jon Henry would be the strangely-dressed new kid who comes in halfway through the year. Heâs a fresh face and no one knows what to expect from him. Heâs a mystery, but the secret behind the buzz heâs creating in Hollywood isnât.Itâs easy to picture the current music scene as sharply-segmented high school cliques in their cafeteria. Blinged-out rappers and party girl pop-singers are the rich kids and cheerleaders who sit at the lunch table where many kids would like a spot. Some very fashionable punk-rockers sit at a table they insist is not Emo, often nervous about the Urban demographic at the table in the corner. Many wonder where this new kid will land in the hierarchy of popularity. But Jon Henry sits alone with a confident smirk like the whole scene bores him; why?Itâs because he knows, as he raps on his darkly comical ode to the un-cool kids âHappy Loserâ, that âCool is a job with pointless rules theyâre trying to follow hard.â While the nervous middle classes of the music scene are desperately chasing co-signs from the cooler kids and trying to project a popular image, Jon Henry boldly speaks to kids at every lunch table about something deeper than who has the latest smartphone. He relates to their personal issues, like their efforts to fit in or find hope when in pain. This honesty helps him to define and build a unique pop audience that unites kids across lunch tables.Towards that goal, Jon Henry and collaborator The Prime Mover turn beautiful angst into a mainstream debut for all of Young America to enjoy. ...

| | Seth Wood Abraham CD (2009)
With Jason Gamer songs
$9.35 Sometimes great things are discovered by accident.Benjamin Franklin yelled into a telephone and discovered a phonograph. Alexander Fleming pulled penicillin from a Petri dish enshrouded in mold. Louis Daguerre spilled a drop of mercury and came out with a photograph. Not to be outdone, Seth Wood stumbled into an old, rusty guitar shop and, years later, came out with a remarkable folk record.Being forced to sing gospel hymns as a child in his parentsâ local church, Wood was exposed to a world of music and spirituality at an early age. However it wasnât until he left his home in Nashville, Tennessee some six years ago that he accidentally reunited with his childhood memories. In 2003, Wood traveled to Europe for a year to chase his dream of becoming a filmmaker. Little did he know, he would return to Nashville having made an irreversible, accidental discovery.âI remember going into this little guitar shop in France one day and finding an old guitar on sale for 80 Euros. I said to myself, âYou know? What the hell.â I played it and it was the best Iâd felt in a long time. It just made sense,â Wood said. From that moment on, Wood began walking the long road of natural, simple and earnest songwriting. His efforts led him to the humble beginnings of live shows, playing mostly to passersby or quiet coffee shop baristas. âIf that time in my life was a poem it would be called âPatience,ââ said Wood. âIt was pretty rough for an entire year. I was sleeping on the floor at my friendsâ place, doing odd jobs and feeling hopeless.âBut as the law of beautiful accidents would have it, Wood soon broke new ground after coming in contact with producers Paul Mabury and Tom Laune. Under their guidance, Wood began recording his first official EP titled Abraham.âIt was nothing that I did; it was a matter of luck and chance. It was a very fortunate accident,â said Wood.âThey helped me realize that my songs were good, and that I had talent. Because of that I was ...

| | Kim Lenz It's All True! CD (2009)
With Jason Gamer music CDs
$10.85 Flame-haired keeper of the rockabilly flame Kim Lenz comes into her own on her long-awaited third album, IT'S ALL TRUE. The sound is as vintage and pure as it's always been, seemingly recorded into a single ribbon microphone in complete takes, with the Jaguars ripping it up behind her gutsy vocals. Guitarist Nick Curran throws some surprising touches into his fleet solos, while bassist Jake Erwin and drummer Scotty Tecce keep the songs popping and bouncing. As befits a Texas native, Lenz keeps a country twang and a Buddy Holly-esque hiccup prominent in her delivery, though she can shout the walls down with all the force of Wanda Jackson or Janis Martin. Of course, she can also slow it down and get seductive when she wants to, as demonstrated by the swinging, bluesy "I'll Tell You When" and the country-tinged lament "I Break a Heart Every Night." Unlike many modern rockabilly acts, she also writes the lioness' share of her material--eight of the album's twelve tracks are Lenz originals, including one co-written with rockabilly revival king Big Sandy. But the album's tone is most strongly set by its opening and closing tracks, "Touch Me" and "Shined Up and Ready to Shout." They're fast, furious, and guaranteed to get toes tapping and dancers spinning on the floor.
