Treasure Raiders review
$9.79 A landmark in film history, EASY RIDER blew the studio doors open for more young directors than any film before or since, helping to create the wide-open climate that would lead to the production of many outstanding films in the 1970s. As its director, Dennis Hopper is usually given the lion's share of credit for the film's success, but the revelations of time suggest that the contributions of the late Terry Southern and, to some degree, Jack Nicholson have endowed the film with much of its residual power.
Starring Peter Fonda as Wyatt (alias Captain America) and Hopper as Billy, it traces the hippie duo's adventures as they mount their seriously chopped hogs on a journey to find the real America en route to Mardi Gras. In Arizona, they visit ...

| | De La Soul - Me, Myself And I DVD (1997)
Treasure Raiders review
$13.59 The sharp hip-hop hodgepodge trio De La Soul brings its distinct brand of surrealism, innovation, and genre-fusion to the 1997 Lokerse Festival and performs 17 hits, including "Eye Know," "Oodles of O’s," "Ego Trippin’," and, of course, "Me, Myself And I."
With their clever, surrealistic lyrics, inventive use of sampling and incorporating an eclectic mix of reggae, funk, jazz, fashion and psychedelia into their sound, New York-based DE LA SOUL are one of the most original and influential groups on the hip hop scene. Singing about peace and love rather than about sleaze and violence like most of their considerably more hardcore rap contemporaries, De La Soul come across as modern day hippies, an image which found favor with rock audiences. Hailed on their arrival on the scene in 1989 as the future of hip hop, ...
| | What's Up, Tiger Lily? DVD (1966) Widescreen
Treasure Raiders DVD
$15.09 WHAT'S UP, TIGER LILY?, Woody Allen's first directorial effort, started life as a low-grade Japanese James Bondian spy drama called KEY OF KEYS. Executive producer Henry G. Saperstein bought the film and hired Allen to dub in an entirely new soundtrack, featuring brand-new dialogue (cowritten by the new voices) that turns the story into a riotously ridiculous search for the perfect egg salad recipe; Saperstein also added scenes with the Lovin' Spoonful to give the film a hip 1960s feel wholly out of touch with what is occurring onscreen. Allen did shoot some new scenes for the film, in which he describes the genesis of the idea and its place in film history, claiming that the first film to do this was GONE WITH THE WIND. The new story features the Japanese cast playing such characters as Phil Moskowitz, Terry Yaki, and Suki Yaki, battling to find out just the right amount of mayonnaise to mix in with chopped eggs. Many of the jokes are about food and sex, two things that Allen would go on to explore more and more in his films.
An evil mastermind with an addiction to egg salad! Sadistic, torture-hungry double crossers! Gorgeous girls hungry for lovin'! A weird marriage between a cobra and a chicken! Only one man is daring, clever and ...

Treasure Raiders film
$7.60 Edward Zwick directs this sumptuously designed, action-packed period epic that stars Tom Cruise as Captain Nathan Algren. Algren, a former Civil War hero, is adrift in 1870s San Francisco after the war, a lost soul struggling to stay afloat in a booze-soaked stupor. When he is recruited by the Japanese government to train the Emperor's army, he departs for the unknown shores of Japan and begins training the soldiers in American military tactics. But these skills are useless against a band of samurai rebels led by the proud warrior Katsumoto (Ken Watanabe), and Algren is easily defeated. He is taken to a remote samurai village where he learns samurai warrior codes and ways of life, developing a ...
