| | Eric Clapton / Steve Winwood Live From Madison Square Garden CD Eric Clapton / Steve Winwood Discography of CDs
(6 Customer Reviews)
When their hugely influential groups (Cream and Traffic, respectively) disbanded, Eric Clapton and Steve Winwood made rock history when they joined forces in the short-lived Blind Faith in the late 1960s. Forty years later these legends collaborated again, selling out a trio of dates at Madison Square Garden, the results of which are captured on this dynamic double-disc set.
The set list includes material from the catalogs of Blind Faith, Traffic, Derek and the Dominos, and Clapton's solo oeuvre (including the J.J. Cale-penned classics "After Midnight" and "Cocaine"). Two Jimi Hendrix covers appropriately evoke the bygone `60s era, but the mode here is more laid-back and polished than fiery and psychedelic. That's not to say that Winwood and Clapton, who shine equally on these cuts, don't charm with their familiar skill and finesse. The result is 21 tracks-worth of classic rock pleasure.

Record Collector (magazine) (p.80) - 4 stars out of 5 -- "Winwood's opening 'Had To Cry Today' sets the tone, with its sweet ivories over rumbling rhythm, as Clapton's sweet guitar lines garnish the feast." One of my favorite new cds. They playing is unbelievable and the song selection may not be familiar to some, but will make any newbie an instant fan. Its great to hear songs like Forever man and Split Decision for a change instead of the same old hits like Layla. A great buy! Submitted by dougee841 (Springfiels, CT, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Time to put the toys away Having been a fan of both these guys since the 60s, I find this album confirms that Clapton continues to play tired, boring solos, and Winwood obviously needed the cash boost. If your a fan, Avoid. Submitted by Eric (Jacksonville FL) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 1 of 2 found this helpful.
Wow! Simply said - one of the best live recordings/performances ever. This is one of the best live albums of all time. I am not exaggerating. The playing is awesome, the song selection is great. I wish I had seen it live. Submitted by Larry B (Toms River, NJ, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 1 of 2 found this helpful.
Great! They're twins! Great setlist. Clapton and Winwood are are now comfortable to deliver their songs in a simple & powerful way. 40 years of waiting mean torture for those who love HQ music.
This fruitful collaboration should have been more prolific during the 70/80s decades. Nowadays record sellers will never understand what I'm talking about. Simply Rock and Roll history. Great album. Submitted by Daniel Orlandini (Encantado-RS, Brasil) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Stellar Duo Even though the material is a superb example supporting these time tested, gifted artists the recording quality is a true disappointment. Granted I understand it's a live performance but not up to speed with today's technology Submitted by Bob (Gerald, MO. USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 0 of 2 found this helpful.

$11.39 DANNY PRAZ - Lead Guitar and Vocals DANNY PRAZBrookhaven, Pennsylvania singer/songwriter and guitarist, Danny Praz started playing guitar at the age of seven. Along with his brother, Guy, who played drums, Danny performed at many talent shows and functions throughout his early school years. By age 15, Danny and his brother turned their act professional, and began playing the local club scene in a band they called Circuit. At 18, Danny and Circuit highlighted the gifted guitarist's senior year of high school by performing at his own senior prom.Immediately after graduation, Danny joined a group of extremely talented musicians in a new wave act called The Adults, which took the Philadelphia local music scene by storm. During his tenure with the band, Danny recorded his first original songs. An offer followed, and soon after, under the original name Excalibur, Danny released Draft Card Blues B/W Dreamin' on Counterpart Records. The song, a protest over the reinstatement of the draft, gained both local and national play, sold 36,000 copies nationally, and prompted Danny to take the original act Excalibur on the road. The group performed two national tours with four other acts that all had national releases. Excalibur's brand of hard rock had them as the featured act of the tours. After more than two years on the road, Danny returned home to add a keyboard player and a new singer to the lineup. The new band, Crash, emerged as a powerhouse of the local Philadelphia club scene. Crash performed hundreds of shows and concerts in the Philadelphia ...
