David Roberts Biography David Roberts was born in New York City. Growing up in the same city that made Frank Sinatra famous, David's blue eyes and lean look made it easy to slip into the Chairman of the Board/Rat Pack impersonator style. Although it took some time to cultivate the swing/big band style of Ole Blue Eyes, the sophisticated musical roots were being formed during the formative years in the Big Apple. Mr. Roberts has lived in Central Florida for many years but is eager to sing live music in Las Vegas or other exiting places overseas. He is one of the best live wedding singers and jazz performers in Central Florida. The David Roberts of today is a successful music performer and music appreciator. He performs live every week to large, appreciative audiences at Vines Grill & Wine Bar in Southwest Orlando. He has played in many of the finer hotels, historical venues and conventions in Florida. Mr. Roberts is as comfortable with swing and big band music as he is with Christmas songs come the holidays. He has made it his ambition to study the best phrasing and the best lyrics to hundreds of Sinatra tunes. He has performed solo and with many of Florida's finest and best musicians at countless weddings and convention sites. Orlando, Florida's Chairman of the Board handles Master of Ceremonies duties at wedding receptions. He is a jazz wedding singer and the best solution to all your wedding band, swing music, Rat Pack, Sinatra impersonator and Frank Sinatra or Michael Buble tribute artist needs. David Roberts Live! was recorded in December, 2008 at the World Marriott in Orlando, Florida in front of an entertained crowd of 2,000 fans. The catalyst for this album was twofold: the placement of two tracks (The Open Reel and The Bunch of Red Roses, both included on this compilation) on the 2008 Ed Norton/Colin Farrell Warner Bros' film Pride and Glory; and the decade that has passed since Go On, the album that first brought the band major critical and audience attention.The album consists of eighteen tracks, which in the words of founding member Gregory Grene, 'comprise a kind of best-possible-set if we were playing tomorrow. It's both back catalog and new songs that the band never recorded before. There were two deciding criteria: first, they had to be representative of the current band - these are all songs you will hear if you go to a concert right now, songs that have stood the test of time. And second, among those current songs, what are the tracks folk most avidly respond to at our concerts? Which are the ones that come up again and again as requests, 'Where can I find this track?''Over the course of ten years and eleven members the band has undergone significant change, but according to Grene, there is a strong through-line. 'One of the unexpected pleasures of putting together this album has been discovering how cohesive it is. The themes, the writing, the sound - they have a consistency that is really gratifying. It feels like a band that has continued to grow and explore but has maintained an immediately audible, identifiable integrity. 'The back catalog tracks on Whiskey Asylum span seven albums and ten years.
