| | Ruben Studdard Love Is CD Ruben Studdard Discography of CDs
More than five years after his defeat of Clay Aiken in one of AMERICAN IDOL's most famous battles, and after the resulting contract with J Records had worn out, Ruben Studdard still had the music in him. LOVE IS, his 2009 debut for the Hickory label, overseen by '80s new jack gurus Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis, reveals a Studdard unafraid to take chances. While opening track and single "Together" is a straightforward R&B torch song, perfect for Studdard's soulful voice, his take on Extreme's acoustic power rock hit "More Than Words," flirts with steel guitar country.Entertainment Weekly (p.57) - "[Studdard] is in predictably fine voice on his fourth studio set, a romance-themed mix of crafty originals and sturdy covers." -- Grade: B+ Billboard (p.53) - "The nimble 'How You Make Me Feel' wastes no time bouncing along to a sweet storyline...[and] a cover of Michael Jackson's 'I Can't Help It' feels sensual and genuine..." Love Is album
$11.59 Especially when compared to his explosion onto the adult contemporary and quiet storm radio scene in the '80s, the '90s weren't too kind to Freddie Jackson. A longtime soft rock radio staple, his instantly recognizable anthems began to show their wrinkles and cracks with their dated productions, and were slowly replaced with more current and polished productions. Thankfully, with Personal Reflections Jackson reminds everyone why he was such a potent force in the great quiet storm invasion of the '80s, and why his name belongs up there with some of the style's most well-known artists. This comeback album starts off in fine form with a fantastic and by the numbers cover of Paul Davis' anthem "I Go Crazy" and works its way through some of soft rock's most cherished ...
| | Billy Price East End Avenue CD (2006)
Love Is CD music
$20.25 Billy Price, east coast blue-eyed soul man, has been entertaining audiences for the past three decades. In his hometown of Pittsburgh, Pa., he is an institution. Price's popularity isn't hard to explain. As Geoffrey Himes of the Washington Post has written, "Unlike so many blues revivalists, Price is not an imitation of older, better singers--he's the real thing." Billy Price first attracted national attention during his three-year association with guitarist Roy Buchanan. Price is the vocalist on two of Buchanan's LPs, That's What I'm Here For and Livestock. With Buchanan, Price toured the U.S. and Canada, playing such venues as Carnegie Hall in New York, the Newport Jazz Festival, the Roxy and the Troubadour in Los Angeles, and the Spectrum in Philadelphia. Price assembled Billy Price and the Keystone Rhythm Band in 1977. Before their breakup in 1990, the band recorded four critically acclaimed LPs and developed a reputation as one of the most exciting touring bands in the U.S. Price formed The Billy Price Band in 1990. In addition to performing popular songs from Price's years with Buchanan and the Keystone Rhythm Band, the Billy Price Band features new interpretations of blues, R & B, and soul classics. Members of the Billy Price Band are Lenny Smith (guitar), ...

Love Is music CDs
$11.49 Malford Milligan has been belting out his own blend of blues, soul, gospel, funk, and rock & roll from his home base of Austin, TX, for many years, working and recording with a lengthy roster of talent that includes Storyville, Double Trouble, the Boneshakers, Eric Johnson, Sue Foley, and Marcia Ball. Milligan, whose influences range from Joni Mitchell to Al Green and Stevie Wonder, didn't begin releasing albums under his own name until well after he had passed the age of 40. His rendition of Blind Willie Johnson's "Dark Was the Night" set the tone for the album The Gospel According to Austin, Vol. 2 in 2001. Sweet Cherry Soul appeared in 2002 on Stagger Lee Records, No Good Deed Goes Unpunished came out on the Austin to Boston label in 2004, and Rides Again... was released by Mass Appeal in 2006. Rides Again... might just be his best piece of work to date, as maturity gives Malford a leonine quality that works wonders and is bound to make him even more exciting and unique with the passage of time. Stoked with original tunes and new renditions of favorites by Muddy Waters, Otis Redding, Freddie King and Merle Haggard (as well as a cover of "Drive" by the Cars that brings to mind the passion ...
