$8.99 Music composed by Gene De Paul. Lyrics written by Johnny Mercer.
Songwriter Johnny Mercer did not have much luck writing for Broadway, but the exception was Lil' Abner, based on the satiric Al Capp comic strip about the rural residents of Dogpatch. Mercer wrote the song lyrics to music by Gene DePaul, with whom he had worked on the ...

$18.19 Teachers and Parents - JUMP on THIS ONE! Think - "Gifts" for Teachers in June! They will LOVE you for giving them new Holiday Songs for their Classrooms that ENTERTAIN and EDUCATE students. Parents - think "Summer Road Trips"- songs that will keep your child occupied as these songs encourage singing along, challenge the brain, and tickle the ears! Finally a Group of Songs that touch most of the Popular Holidays sung in a clear diction and pitch that children can emulate in their natural high voices. They not only have good lyrics, but also GREAT MUSIC with orchestrations of a high quality, professional sound. They give many opportunities to incorporate Rhythm, Movement, Identifying Instruments, Patterns, Form, etc. as aids in teaching Public School Music requirements.Suggestions for getting kids involved in the music:1 The âMonths of The Yearâ not only teaches Seasonal happenings, but the second half has the children fill in the last words for a rhyming and memory game. The last part of the song has a tongue twisting rhyme to challenge all ages.2. & 3. The âValentine Danceâ combines a sweet beginning and ending, with a bouncy dance between verses. The very young may want to jump up and down, while older ones may create a nice dance step. On #3. Instructions are given for using the song in Group Interaction for socialization in the classroom or at a party for all ages. 4. âThe Leprechaunâ has a "pop" music feel telling about the Leprechaun who often is seen making a shoe, and giving mystical coins away in case he is caught. 5. &6. make you want to dance again. #6. has Dance Instructions for the more nimble, and simplified Clapping and Drone Ostinato Singing for others. Great for Schools.7 âSpring Is Almost Hereâ has a settling sound for a relaxing rest or creative drawing.8. âEaster Egg Colorsâ can be used with a pre-drawn picture of colored eggs for the children to identify the colors sung on the song. Give children a copy to color on their own after listening to the song in class, or they can draw their own eggs. Be sure to listen to the surprise ending â really fun for the kids. Thereâs counting on this one, too. 9. âSave Our Earthâ â makes all aware of the Earth Day issues and is great for all to sing and act out. Background tracks available on request. Drawing these images for the bulletin board would be a perfect activity. Background Tracks for you r own show are available through email.10. Every Graduation needs an inspirational song about reaching for your dreams. "Dream A Dream" brought tears to the eyes of the Cultural Arts audience that heard it at an Awards Ceremony. Try using it as a background for a slide show.11. âBilly The Scarecrowâ is a lively story that can be listened to, sung with, or enacted with puppets. Sing along with the recurring chorus. Itâs a great vocalizing tune.12. âTrick Or Treatâ conjures up many memories of the fun of knocking on doors and counting the 1-2-3 beat. Yummy candy, too.13. âAll On Halloweenâ has great spooky sound effects, and still not too scary for the little ones. 14. âOld Mrs. Witchâ is another fun song about a witch who is not so scary. 15. This âCostume Marchâ is a gift to all teachers or party givers. The effects are unexpected and varied to each verse in an upbeat tune. Youâll want to repeat it over and over, depending how long your parade is. 16. âMy Country âTis Of Theeâ â explained â for all those children, adults, and immigrants who have mispronounced the words for a lack of understanding what they were. This is perfect for children and bi-linguals who ...
