Great American's 2009 release SUPER BAD rounds up a bunch of sides Don Covay cut in the early '70s, including selections from LPs and a bunch of stray tracks released during this era. Much of this music is so funky it's a bit rough--the rhythms don't hold, chords slip, the sound is skinny, recording is thin--but its appeal is its period vibe, right down to how he does a funky workout on Vanity Fare's "Hitchin' a Ride." Covay's considerable vocal skills are always evident, so much so that it's hard not to wish that he had a better set of songs or a bigger budget worthy of his talents, but there are enough good moments to make this a good sampler of this forgotten era. Super Bad music CDs
$6.79 Before David Gilmour virtually "became" Pink Floyd he was always the most likely member of the band (with the possible exception of de-facto leader Roger Waters) to release a solo album. 1978's welcome eponymous debut showcased his multi-faceted performing talents.
The album opener "Mihalis" is an ANIMALS period instrumental, which, along with "Raise My Rent," sounds like an outtake from that album. The beautiful "There's No Way Out of Here" begins with a lonely harmonica and, with "No Way" and "I Can't Breathe Anymore," expounds the album's main theme of ...

Super Bad CD music
$14.42 Dismissed by the benighted as the Doors' "pop album," SOFT PARADE is one of the band's most adventurous recordings, utilizing strings and horns without resorting to schlocky over-production and moving far beyond their blues roots. Morrison was fully into his shaman phase by 1969, and his obsession with that image ...

| | Frank Tuma Island Passions CD (2009)
Super Bad music CDs
$13.15 There is a significant range of music styles on this CD. They come from many Island passions especially felt in this current chaotic era. These passions range from Rhumba fast exotic dancing to Rhumba close and slow dancing. There are deep feelings expressed about the loss of money, homes and jobs in songs like "I Just Can't Take Anymore" and the Reggae-style song, "Work Hard and No Fun."In order to keep a positive attitude we have funky rhythmic styles as well, along with passionate Latin styles for exotic but easy litening. With all this passion, we still need steel drum music, as in "Let's Party," to keep our island moods in balance. While attending college, I played at various bars and resorts to help pay for my education as a physicist. This valuable exposure to the life of working musicians convinced me to continue my education and make my way in the world of science. However, life throws interesting curves, and my goals and objectives were tinkered with and music never left the ...
