Full of chiming guitars, alternately soaring and whispered vocals, and dramatic dynamic shifts, TRAVEL reveals Future of Forestry as a band equally concerned with its faith-based sentiment and the pure sonic qualities of its music. Though as a Christian combo the group pens lyrics that are generally positive, TRAVEL is imbued with a sense of melancholy that serves to deepen and humanize the album's message. As such, there are echoes of Nick Drake (the strings and alternately-tuned acoustic guitar of "Colors in Array") and Coldplay (the yearning singing and urgent rhythms of "This Hour") throughout, making the record accessible to both believers and non-believers.

KINGDOM OF WELCOME ADDICTION is the third release by IAMX, the cybernetic alter-ego of electro-pop composer Chris Corner (Sneaker Pimps). The follow-up to 2006's THE ALTERNATIVE, the album features a tightly-wound post-pop aesthetic and cynical yet impassioned lyrical base. Vaguely reminiscent of early Nine Inch Nails, KINGDOM is a less a dance floor opus than a cold, calculated soundscape that echoes one man's insomnia-induced depression.

A mixtape by Slum Village's Elzhi, WITNESS MY GROWTH escaped from the underground in the mid-`00s and was finally released "officially" in early 2009. The dynamic collection features solo stuff by the ever-opinionated rapper from his early days as an underground Detroit innovator up through the days he had taken over the production reins of his seminal trio from JayDee. The two-disc set crests and ebbs with effortless precision as the masterful MC trades his ample wit with much of the Detroit hip-hop cognoscenti.

The Weisstronauts are a difficult-to-pigeonhole rock band based in Boston. Generally an instrumental band based around three lead electric guitarists, the group's debut EP is different in many ways. Firstly, it features vocals. Secondly, all the songs are holiday-themed. A very strange debut, for sure. Boston Globe writer Jonathan Perry summed it up when he described this CD as: "... a mix of standards and originals, kicking up a little mischief along the way to keep things interesting. No doubt about it, the Weisstronauts know their Yuletide carols."
