Best of Huey "Piano" Smith & His Clowns album for sale Product Description
Best of Huey "Piano" Smith & His Clowns album for sale by Huey "Piano" Smith was released May 05, 2009 on the VarŠse Sarabande (USA) label. At the time of release, this 2009 compilation covered more ground than any other single-disc Huey "Piano" Smith collection, running a full 20 tracks where Music Club's 1998 set, THIS IS HUEY PIANO SMITH, went to a mere 18. Of course, every one of those 18 tracks -- including all of Smith's hits ("Rockin' Pneumonia and the Boogie Woogie Flu," "Don't You Just Know It," "High Blood Pressure," "Don't You Know Yockomo"); various good-natured rewrites of said hits; plus his version of "Sea Cruise," the hit he penned for Frankie Ford -- are here, along with the good additions "For Cryin' Out Loud" and "Scald-Dog," making this an excellent single-disc overview of this classic New Orleans pianist. Best of Huey "Piano" Smith & His Clowns CD music contains a single disc with 20 songs. ...See Full Description

Jackie Wilson He's So Fine CD (1958)
Best of Huey "Piano" Smith & His Clowns album for sale In 1957, Jackie Wilson left the Dominoes and released this debut album on Brunswick Records a year later. The new songwriting team of Berry Gordy, Jr. & Tyran Carlo (aka Billy Davis) wrote six of the 12 songs. Backed by a big band, Wilson belts out "Reet Petite" like it's an Olympic event, displaying his irresistible vocal gymnastics; "Etcetera" treads the same path, but lacks the dynamics. "To Be Loved" and "Danny Boy," the old standard, are heartfelt, stately ballads. Wilson wrote "Come Back to Me," a rather bland jump tune. An overblown big-band sound mars all but the most crafted creations, and there's no denying Wilson's fantastic takes, but the Brunswick sound may be a bit too full for die-hard soul lovers. ~ Andrew Hamilton
Digitally remastered reissue of the Soul legend's 1958 debut album. A former member of The Dominoes, Jackie Wilson was signed as a solo singer to Brunswick Records in 1957, with his manager Nat Tarnapol handing him a number of songs that had been written by former boxer and motor plant worker Berry Gordy. The first of these, 'Reet Petite', became a modest R&B hit but made the Top 10 in the UK. Further hits, such as 'To Be Loved', made Jackie a major star, although Tarnapol and Gordy eventually had a falling out over ...

Randy Stern Give CD (2009)
Best of Huey "Piano" Smith & His Clowns CD music The debut solo album from Randy Stern; former singer, songwriter and guitarist for Brooklyn, New York's iconic indie rockers, The Nerve.
Over his ten year career with The Nerve, Randy cultivated a tremendous amount of experience. The Nerve self-released two albums, an EP, and three videos. Their 3rd and final album was released by veteran indie label, Heyday Records (Marty Willson-Piper, The Church, The Surfaris, David J) and produced by renowned guitar hero, Bumblefoot (Guns N' Roses). Subsequently, Randy was invited to play guitar in Mr. Foot's touring band for his 2005 tour of Europe. On December 16th, 2006 The Nerve played its final show in New York City.
Randy has quickly established himself as a strong solo artist. In a far departure from the punk/grunge leanings of his old band, Mr. Stern has evolved into a much more seasoned, subtle sound and roots oriented approach. His new songs contain an elemental simplicity and maturity developed and expanded from his earlier period with the band. Songs such as "Home", "Better Days", "Rita" and "In the Midnite" reflect themes of redemption, empowerment, relationships, and hope in the face of adversity. His live performances have been described as heartfelt, immediate, and soulful.
Inevitably, this has all culminated in the release of "Give". The album was produced by Hugh Pool, known for his work with The National, Patti Smith, Rufus Wainwright and legendary blues artist Hubert Sumlin. Once again, Randy is working with Heyday Records. As fans of The Nerve would attest, this is a much anticipated release.

Frank Morgan Yardbird Suit CD (1989)
Best of Huey "Piano" Smith & His Clowns buy CD music Recorded January 10 & 11, 1988 at Fantasy Studios, Berkeley, California. Includes liner notes by Orrin Keepnews.
Digitally remastered by George Horn (2001, Fantasy Studios, Berkeley, California).
Altoist Frank Morgan explores his bebop roots on this infectious set, playing six bop-era standards (four by his idol Charlie Parker) and "Skylark." With stimulating support from pianist Mulgrew Miller, bassist Ron Carter and drummer Al Foster, Morgan pays tribute to Bird, yet does not copy him (although he has the ability to sometimes sound very similar to Parker). This spontaneous session (which includes such songs as "Yardbird Suite," "Scrapple From the Apple" and "Star Eyes") has its subtle surprises and is often hard-swinging. Recommended. ~ Scott Yanow
Frank Morgan Quartet: Frank Morgan (alto saxophone); Mulgrew Miller (piano); Ron Carter (bass); Al Foster (drums).

Tasm Lab An Adulty Adipisci CD (2008)
Best of Huey "Piano" Smith & His Clowns buy CD music An Adulty Adipisci is a eight song collection of tales of adult experience such as having children, feeling love, and enjoying a good drunk drive home. This is the seventh TASM Lab album, and like its predecessors, it is completely different than the rest.
The spotlight on Jeff Till\'s new compositions are the harmonized vocals of Kalamazoo legend Chris Bryers (Twitch, Sleet, Owlsa, Selling Heaven, TASM\'s \"Thing and Nothing\", and now \"Hazel and the Black Rabbit\") and now Bostonite and beautiful pipette Michelle Graf (Blue Dahlia, \"Thing and Nothing\", \"The Essential Cubicle Nosepicker\", Tether).
The vocals sing gorgeous, memorable melodies in sometimes energetic sometime sullen tones. Harmonies and melodies are layered and rich, but sometimes lonely and stark.
The singing is supported by a live band of acoustic guitars, gooey del palmer-y bass, acoustic drums, live percussion, piano, and an assortment of strings, bells, choruses and even birds and atmospheric noises. The sounds with harmonies are often layered into thick walls of sonic dream, like the first track off of the Cure\'s \"disintegration\", a prettier part of MBV\'s Loveless, sometimes even feeling like an orchestra.
The songs could be compared to The New Pornographers, Sun Kil Moon, The Flaming Lips \"The Soft Bulletin\", Tori Amos albums, Burt Bacharach, Elvis Costello, Fiona Apple, Peter Gabriel, Kate Bush, The Cure, My Bloody Valentine, The Church, Prince, David Gray, Peter Yourn, Coldplay, Adam Ant. Um. Elliot Smith, Billy Bragg, The Damned\'s \"Phantasmagoria\". Maybe a bit of sixties jangle in there, um, Webber and Lloyd
Late stage Beatles or beach boys, as far as instrumentation, might not be far off.
It\'s not totally unlike TASM Lab\'s \"Essential Cubicle Nosepicker\", but there\'s a whole band this time.
You could also say it could fit into a Wes Anderson or Sophia Coppola or other art-intellectual-quirky filmmaker soundtrack. This might be the best description, because while the music is completely non-experimental and totally pop-accessible, it avoids any established genre per se, much like all of the strumming and singing you hear in the inventive songs during movies like Rushmore or Lost in Translation.
Brent Oberlin says: \"I listened to the whole album. Is this the order? Is it a concept record? I remember you playing me \"Love will Cloud\" at our visit. At times you pull-off a very good wall-o-sound/ Roy Orbison/ Bruce Springsteen-type thing with the production. All the strings, piano, and strum\'in acoustics are cool. I really like \"Army of Children\", \"Cool Water\", and \"Love will Cloud\"; plus the hickbilly/ super-outro drumfills in \"Lost in a Parking Lot\" are fun. Did you sing on anything besides \"Souced Romantics\"? MB and CB together again. I hope I haven\'t said anything that makes you taste vomit.
\"
You could say it\'s related in sound/trend to Chris Bryer\'s recent \"Birds\" and \"Hazel and The Black Rabbit\" and the lighter moments of Thought Industry\'s \"Short Wave on a Cold Day\".

Brave Citizens Revolutions CD (2008)
Best of Huey "Piano" Smith & His Clowns songs This whole thing started with two former band-mates (Andrew & Adam) who had toured together (Halfway To Nowhere) and released a couple of albums on an indie (PopSmear). After that group dissolved the two found themselves on opposite sides of California but still in contact. In early 2007 they started sending demos back and forth while immersed in their separate bands (Hopefield & Hardly Formal), and soon over two dozen songs had made their way across the web. In summer the timing was perfect and the two began work on an EP, spending two weeks in a house obsessively creating and living off of frozen pizzas. They invited some friends to collaborate and soon the work was done. The music speaks for itself- a nod to the big, ethereal music of the decades past that stirs the emotion in your chest, reminding you of a memory or a feeling, combined with the pounding pulse of modern flair. Music that doesn't sell itself short. World, meet Brave Citizens.
Personnel: Jessica Newman, Geoffry Peters, Dana Stocking.
