| | Three Stooges Collection - Vol. 6: 1949-1951 DVD (2 Customer Reviews)
Standard Screen; Soundtrack English This sixth collection of Three Stooges shorts includes all of the boys’ best adventures from 1949-51, a favored time period in which Shemp continues to assuredly fill Curly’s large shoes after replacing the ill comedian just two years previous. The halfway mark of the 20th century brought with it some of the most beloved Stooges buffoonery, including the brilliant single-set improvisational piece DON’T THROW THAT KNIFE, the bandit antics of MERRY MAVERICKS (an outstanding redo of 1943’s PHONY EXPRESS), the quadruple-duty extravaganza SELF MADE MAIDS (in which the Stooges each play several members of an entire family), and much more. Three Stooges Collection - Vol. 6: 1949-1951 Movie Review Average Rating: (5 out of 5 stars) The Best Volume Yet Without doubt, Volume 6 is the best volume of the Three Stooges Collection to be released so far - and Volumes 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 are all excellent. What makes Volume 6 so extra special is that it has some of the very best shorts that the Three Stooges ever made. Every Three Stooges fan in the world should definitely own it. When the other volumes of the collection are released, I will be the first one to buy them. Also, when the final volume of the collection is released, it would be nice to see Have Rocket, Will Travel and Kook's Tour with Curly Joe DeRita included on it since those two films have not been released on DVD yet. The Three Stooges return with the next 24 digitally remastered shorts covering the years 1949-1951 in this sixth collection, which continues with Shemp as the third Stooge, who had stepped in two years earlier to fill the shoes left empty when Curly became ill and retired.
This collection contains such classics as MERRY MAVERICKS (1951), a reworking of PHONY EXPRESS (1943) featuring Red Morgan and his gang of bandits; SELF MADE MAIDS (1950), in which the Stooges not only play themselves but assume the roles of their fiancées, their fiancées' father (played by Moe) and their three babies; and DON'T THROW THAT KNIFE (1951), which features Larry, Moe and Shemp in brilliant improvisation with nothing but household items while confined to a single room.
The Three Stooges Collection Volume 6 showcases Larry, Moe and Shemp at their best -- and things just keep getting better!

Three Stooges Collection - Vol. 6: 1949-1951 review
$21.49 The "divine Emmy" is still today considered the undisputed grand-diva of Czech opera, recognized in her day throughout the world for her passionate soprano and a life lived in extreme proportions. The list of her accomplishments was long and illustrious: a member of the imperial court opera in Berlin, and a soloist with the Covent Garden Opera, she became one of the highest-paid and most famous singers in New York's Metropolitan Opera. Much admired by multiple suitors, her love affairs assumed operatic proportions, and counted among them were tenor Enrico Caruso, and French baritone Dinh Gilly, who took it upon himself to learn Czech just so that he could share the stage with her. Imprisoned during WWI on charges of mafia collaboration and anti-Austrian ...

This program includes highlights from the tour, which features Beck's delirious mixture of acumen, boisterousness, and madcap humor.
