(1 Customer Review)
After scoring a regional hit that eventually went national with the Will Ferrell-inspired single "Do the Ricky Bobby," fast-rising Dallas rapper B-Hamp presents his debut album B DASH on Malaco records. B-Hamp flows over similarly danceable cuts ("Fortune & Fame," "I Think She Likes My"), shows his sensitive side on the ghetto love song "Put You On," and dedicates a whole joint to his favorite jeans ("Levis"). B Dash album
$8.49 In addition to energized versions of such treasured Christmas songs as "Go Tell It on the Mountain" and "Silent Night," Franklin & the Family contribute several non-traditional songs that explore the depth of God's love and the Christian basis for the holiday. "Now Behold the Lamb," for example, is a ballad that testifies to the truth of salvation, and features stirring ensemble singing, strong solo vocalists, and plenty of enthusiastic exclamations. The deeply funky "Jesus Is the Reason for the Season" kicks things up a notch with its bumping rhythm and infectious chorus. With its mix of old and new musical styles and its impassioned performances, CHRISTMAS is sure to please those looking for a meaningful and musically fresh holiday album.

$18.94 Functioning as something of a replacement for the 2001 collection Their Greatest Hits: The Record, The Ultimate Bee Gees covers much of the same ground as that double-disc set, albeit in not quite so linear a fashion. The Record marched through its 40 tracks chronologically, opening with the stately baroque Beatlesque pop of the '60s and ...

B Dash songs
$13.15 Singer and songwriter Peter Greco’s operatic release “Month of Sundays, Vol. 1” is a musical debut that reflects Greco’s careful consideration of life and living as an American male born at the end of the baby boom. The fictional work begins with the birth of a late boomer, and ends with his death 84 years later. Volume 1 takes just over an hour of listening time, as the life of a late boomer passes quickly and often dramatically, from birth to about age 42, through the years as they pass into memory like a month of Sundays. The concept is that an opera of 30 songs can tell the story of a life as if it were 30 memorable Sundays. There are three stages in this particular month, the first being the upbeat, “go” stage filled with anticipation and signified on the CD cover by the color green; the second being the dark, “stop” stage filled with trepidation and signified on the CD cover by the color red; the third being the resolute, “acceptance” stage filled with the discovery and embracement of wisdom and signified on the CD cover by the color blue. These might not map to stages in every life, but Greco says "they map to many of the lives that I've encountered, and also to my own experience in many ways."The story itself is more complicated than any formula might imply, which is fitting, Greco says, because "the subjective nature of every life requires that common experience is in fact always in doubt. The character in Month of Sundays is flawed in ways that are both common and unique, and with any luck, listeners will recognize both." The artist himself is a late-boomer, but he describes his life and times as significantly less dramatic, and probably less complicated, than the character in "Month of Sundays." Peter Greco’s background includes a lot of research and study of music as an art, and he considers music as “an ultimate form of literary expression that, if done well enough, allows the listener a personal significance in the intended message.” Greco lives “a largely routine American life in a mostly routine American home with the requisite routine in the modern American family, thus providing significant ...
| | Irene Cara Carasmatic CD (1987)
B Dash album
$10.65 Cara's legal battles with former record label Network were far from over when she released her first (and only) album for Elektra in 1987. This pressure evidently affected her output for the worse during this period, as the material here lacks the vocal and musical conviction of her first two albums. The pretentious, '60s-cloned "Girlfriends" is one of a handful of empty uptempo cuts. And the Michael Bolton/Doug James ballad, "Now That It's Over," never quite reaches its destination, with Cara struggling to hit the song's higher notes and only seeming to be halfway into the rest of the song. Likewise, "Be Your Number One" has a catchy refrain, but it feels like nothing's happening during the verses. With only halfway decent songs, limited production, ...
