(9 Customer Reviews)
By 2009, the duo of Llandel Malave Veguilla (Wisin) and Juan Morera (Yandel) were well established as reggaeton royalty. While Wisin & Yandel professed a desire to return to their mid-1990s, pre-reggaeton explosion style on their seventh record, LA REVOLUCION, their heady fusion of disco-era Latin R&B and up-to-the-moment street-hop continues to evolve unabated. It's Wisin & Yandel's show, and they open it with proper bravado on the title track, injecting a sly romantic undercurrent to what could have been a straight boasting banger. Proof positive of the Puerto Rican pair's prowess comes on "Mujeres In The Club" where 50 Cent slows his drawl to a mesmerizing crawl, pocketing his swagger, simply augmenting a slyly seductive single. Released just weeks after their previous album, Los Extraterrestres, won Billboard's 2009 Latin Rhythm Album of the Year award, La Revolucion finds reggaeton superstars Wisin & Yandel on a serious roll. After the opening title track suggests a futuristic concept album on the scale of Don Omar's 2009 release iDon, La Revolucion slips into a much more standard album for the duo, which is hardly a disappointment. Bouncing between grand club numbers and smooth ballads, the overall structure is familiar to all returning fans, but just like Omar in 2009, the duo have become fans of euro-disco synths and urban dance music. The slick "Quitame El Dolor" stomps the ground like a Flo Rida cut while "Mujeres in the Club" creeps and swaggers in such a G-Unit way that special guest 50 Cent sounds right at home. On the other hand, a handful of cuts -- "Perfecto" with Yaviah and Ivy Queen being the best -- prove that the duo can still create vital and undiluted reggaeton as they please. Purists might balk at how they choose to do so but La Revolucion is more about expanding the duo's sound while making sure that high quality control is still in effect. ~ David Jeffries La Revolucion Music | List Price | $18.95 (You save $0.96) | | Category | International Albums, R&B CDs, Latin, Latin Rap, Reggaeton, Latin House, Reggae | | Label | Machete Music | | Orig Year | 2009 | | All Time Sales Rank | 14979 | | CD Universe Part number | 7930884 | | Discs | 2 | | Release Date | May 26, 2009 | | Studio/Live | Studio | | Personnel | 50 Cent, Ednita Nazario, Jayko, Franco El Gorila |
Wisin Y Yandel La Revolucion Songs La Revolucion Music Review Average Rating: (4.4 out of 5 stars) List All Reviews Little Revolucion but explosive CD Although the CD is off the hook I expected something a little different because of the title La Revolucion. However, Wisin and Yandel do not let their fans down and this time they covered all bases, reggaeton, hip hop, ballads, and the latest craze electronic. They did a really nice job at combining their old dembow style with the commercial sound of electronic music. I love their work!!! The CD is worth the money! La Revolucion
$13.99 Through the mid 2000s Puerto Rican duo Wisin & Yandel slowly climbed their way to the top of the reggaeton heap. Riding the momentum of 2005's smash PA'L MUNDO, the pair unleashed a flurry of touring, guest appearances, and remix projects, before dropping LOS EXTRATERRESTRES in 2007. Wisin & Yandel deliver what their fans expect here: hard-driving reggaeton powered by rapid-fire Spanish-language rhymes and top-drawer beats (the duo recruited a bevy of excellent producers for the set). Cameos by Eve and Fat Joe add variety, but it's Wisin & Yandel's reliable, hit-making magic (just check the lead single "Sexy Movimiento") that holds sway. By the time Wisin & Yandel released Los Extraterrestres, the veteran reggaeton duo was a well-oiled hitmaking machine. It had taken them a half-decade to break into the mainstream with Pa'l Mundo (2005), a chart-topping album that spawned a long string of singles, including the number one hit "Llame Pa' Verte." In the wake of Pa'l Mundo, Wisin & Yandel began leveraging their newfound mass appeal: ...

Latin pop boy band Aventura has achieved no small amount of success with their unique blend of traditional Dominican bachata and sleek, Top 40-oriented R&B. THE LAST, Aventura's fifth studio release, further explores the band's swoon-worthy style, and is one of their most accomplished and impressive efforts. As usual, the quartet plays to their strengths, which include lilting tropical ballads, with the occasional foray into hip-hop-flavored slow jams, such as "Spanish Fly," featuring cameos from Ludacris and Wyclef Jean. Additional cameos from Akon, Wisin y Yandel, and jazz ...
| | Don Omar Idon CD (2009)
La Revolucion
$10.89 Venturing into uncharted territory for a reggaeton artist, Don Omar presents a concept album on his third studio LP, iDON. Featuring 10 tracks that make up a sci-fi fantasy of the famed Puerto Rican artist's transformation into a cybernetic half-man/half-robot character, iDON' s narrative justifies the project's experimental nature, as Don Omar blends elements of electronic music and synth-driven hip-hop into the traditional reggaeton formula. Re-teaming with Diesel (the producer responsible for one of the reggaeton icon's biggest hits, "Salió Sol") on the lead single "Digital Diva," Don Omar composes a lusty, futuristic club-banger. Elsewhere, the Don shows his sensitive side on the suave "Ciao Bella." Production comes courtesy of Robin Lex, Echo, Effect-O, and Danny Fornaris. Throwing fans a curveball, Don Omar gets conceptual on iDon, an album that tells the story of the singer/rapper's "transformation from international superstar into a cybernetic being." While it would be nice to call this the reggaeton version of Styx's "Mr. Robato" album, Kilroy Was Here, it wouldn't be true since the other major risk Omar takes on iDon is the embracing of dance beats and the urban sound of America. "Oasis" takes the reggaeton beat into the future, and the backing track on "Blue Zone" is firmly in the genre, but "Virtual Diva" blends new wave flavors, while "Sexy Robotica" is heavily influenced by the dancefloor ...
