John Lennon & The Plastic Ono Band - Live In Toronto '69 DVD Features
John Lennon & The Plastic Ono Band Live In Toronto ’69 is a rare look at one of the world’s most influential popular artists at a pivotal moment in his career. Filmed on the eve of the release of the Abbey Road LP — the last Beatles album to be recorded — this is the only performance ever caught on film of John Lennon & the Plastic Ono Band.
It had been three years since Lennon had performed onstage with The Beatles. Seemingly on a whim, John and wife Yoko Ono hopped on a plane with guitarist Eric Clapton, bassist Klaus Voormann and drummer Alan White to travel to the Toronto Rock ’N’ Roll Revival festival showcasing some of Lennon’s early musical heroes — among them Bo Diddley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Chuck Berry and Little Richard. As it turned out, Lennon and the newly formed Plastic Ono Band played an equally significant role that night in the history of rock ’n’ roll, as it is widely believed this concert foreshadowed the official end of The Beatles.
Captured by Academy Award®–nominated director D.A. Pennebaker (The War Room, Don’t Look Back, Monterey Pop), this concert film serves as one of the great historical documents in the career and life of John Lennon. DVD Features:

Jethro Tull Stand Up CD (1969) Top Seller
John Lennon & The Plastic Ono Band - Live In Toronto '69 DVD for sale Principally recorded at Morgan Studios, London, England. Includes liner notes by Ian Anderson.
People often forget that Tull started out as a forward-looking blues-rock unit not dissimilar to contemporaries like Cream and Led Zeppelin. While the blues influence is heard most clearly on the debut THIS WAS, its successor STAND UP still shows some of those traces. Tracks like "A New Day Yesterday" and "Nothing Is Easy" are the prime examples of this hard-hitting, bluesy riff-rock approach. Elsewhere, though, the boys begin to show some of the folk, jazz, and classical influences that would soon make them a leading exponent of progressive rock.
"Bouree" is a flute-led instrumental track that combines Ian Anderson's improvisations with melodic bass work that's alternately jazzy and classical-influenced. The melancholy folk-rock feel of "Look Into the Sun" makes for an emotionally affecting, introspective ballad. The light-hearted "Fat Man" incorporates folk influences with an Eastern-sounding balalaika melody. STAND UP is a portrait of a band in transition, on its way to bigger things, but it's still eminently enjoyable.
Digitally remastered reissue of their second release; includes four bonus tracks.
Producers: Terry Ellis, Ian Anderson.
Jethro Tull: Ian Anderson (vocals, guitar, balalaika, mandolin, flute, mouth organ, Hammond B-3 organ); Martin "Lancelot" Barre (electric guitar, flute); Glen Cornick (bass); Clive Bunker (drums, percussion).
Additional personnel: David Palmer (arranger, conductor).

George Harrison Concert For Bangladesh CDs (1971) Top Seller
John Lennon & The Plastic Ono Band - Live In Toronto '69 video Harrison, who organized the event, plays originals recorded with the Beatles ("While My Guitar Gently Weeps," "Something"), and songs from his then-recent solo debut, ALL THINGS MUST PASS ("My Sweet Lord;" "Awaiting on You All"). There are dynamic solo turns by Leon Russell and Billy Preston, before Dylan emerges to steal the show with renditions of his classics ("Mr. Tambourine Man" and "Blowin' in the Wind"). Originally released as a three-LP set, CONCERT FOR BANGLADESH overflows with great music. At the time, it was an emblem for how popular music can raise consciousness about world issues and positively impact those situations. It remains such an emblem today.
This historical 1971 event set the template for every rock benefit concert that followed. A cast of all-star musicians, including Geroge Harrison, Ravi Shankar, Eric Clapton, Ringo Starr, and Bob Dylan, converged on New York City's Madison Square Garden to play and sing their hearts out, while all the proceeds from the concert went to aid Bengali refugees. Shankar's 17-minute-plus raga "Bangla Dhun" opens the set, as though evoking the voice of a part of the globe too-often overlooked by Westerners. Backed by Ali Akbar Kahn and Alla Rakha, Shankar's exquisitely nuanced performance is one of the show's highlights.
Personnel: George Harrison (vocals, guitar); Eric Clapton, Bob Dylan (vocals, guitar); Billy Preston (vocals, organ); Leon Russell (vocals, keyboards); Ringo Starr (vocals, drums); Jesse Ed Davis , Joey Molland (guitar); Pete Ham (acoustic guitar); Ravi Shankar (sitar); Jim Horn (saxophone); Klaus Voormann, Tom Evans , Carl Radle (bass instrument); Jim Keltner, Mike Gibbins (drums); Don Preston (background vocals).

Fillmore: The Last Days DVD (1971)
John Lennon & The Plastic Ono Band - Live In Toronto '69 film When the legendary Fillmore West closed its doors in 1971, all of the biggest names in rock music showed up for the sendoff--in the five nights before the final curtain, everyone from the Grateful Dead to Santana graced the infamous stage for one last set. This engaging documentary looks back at the Fillmore’s glory days, and underlines its importance to the musicians who created the "San Francisco Sound."
Legendary rock impresario Bill Graham closed the Fillmore West in 1971 with 5 nights of all-star concerts, the last curtain going down on July 4. The storied San Francisco venue had become an institution of the '60s and, now, an essential element of the mythology of rock 'n' roll. Graham made sure the Fillmore West was sent off in a blaze of glory. The madness leading up to the shows and the concerts themselves were filmed for this DVD. Artists include Lamb, Cold Blood, Hot Tuna, Rowan Brothers, Quicksilver Messenger Service, Jefferson Airplane, Jerry Garcia, New Riders Of The Purple Sage, Grateful Dead, It's A Beautiful Day, Elvin Bishop Group, and Santana.

Fireman / Paul McCartney Electric Arguments CD (2008)
John Lennon & The Plastic Ono Band - Live In Toronto '69 DVD for sale ELECTRIC ARGUMENTS is the third album that Paul McCartney and producer/former Killing Joke member Youth have made under the Fireman name, but it's drastically different than either of its predecessors. Where the first two Fireman albums were essentially instrumental ambient-house recordings (the first one began as a remix project for McCartney's OFF THE GROUND album) with the occasional psychedelic touch, most of ELECTRIC ARGUMENTS is relatively conventional pop/rock.
That said, the cut-and-paste lyrical approach, raw feel, and freewheeling musical structures of the tunes all hark back to early, anything-goes McCartney efforts such as WILD LIFE and McCARTNEY. There are a few cuts dominated by the ambient atmospheres of yore, but in the main, ELECTRIC ARGUMENTS is split between hard-hitting rock & roll and acoustic-based ballads, with McCartney front and center, and an exotic layer of electronic icing subtly gilding the surfaces of the songs. In any case, it's still probably the most unpredictable album the former Beatle has made since 1980's McCARTNEY II.
The Fireman: Paul McCartney (various instruments); Youth (guitar).
Personnel: David Nock, Tim Bran (programming).
Audio Mixer: Clive Goddard.
Audio Remasterer: Steve Rooke.
Recording information: Hog Hill Mill.
Author: Zane Lowe.
Photographer: Ruth Ward.
