Last Chance for a Thousand Years: Greatest Hits from the 90's album for sale Product Description
Last Chance for a Thousand Years: Greatest Hits from the 90's album for sale by Dwight Yoakam was released May 19, 2009 on the Rhino Flashback (Label) label. "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" was nominated for the 2000 Grammy Award for Best Male Country Vocal Performance. Last Chance for a Thousand Years: Greatest Hits from the 90's songs Discounting left fielders like Lyle Lovett and Steve Earle, one could make a convincing case for Yoakam as the lone savior of mainstream country in the '90s. Modernizing the Bakersfield sound of Buck Owens (who gets a mention in the opening cut "Turn It On, Turn It Up, Turn Me Loose"), Yoakam combined a traditionalist twang with a rocker's bite and some spectacular songs for that rare marriage of commercial and aesthetic success. Last Chance for a Thousand Years: Greatest Hits from the 90's CD music contains a single disc with 14 songs. ...See Full Description

| encapsulating?....almost This is a very good overview of Dwight's decade of brilliance in the 90's. There are a few irksome things that prevent this from being absolutely essential, however.1. It could've done without Crazy Little Thing Called Love.2. It could've done without one or two selections from the album This Time.3. And my biggest peeve is.... Tom Petty / Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers Greatest Hits CD (1993)
Last Chance for a Thousand Years: Greatest Hits from the 90's album for sale Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers: Tom Petty (vocals, guitars, keyboards); Benmobt Tench (vocals, keyboards); Howie Epstein (vocals, bass); Stan Lynch (vocals, drums); Mike Campbell (guitar, keyboards, bass).
Digitally remastered by Joe Gastwirt (Oceanview, Los Angeles, California).
In the 1970s and '80s, amid the rise of New Wave and synth pop, Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers almost single-handedly brought old-school power-pop and garage-rock musical values into the mainstream. The roots-conscious Floridians are often regarded as "heartland rockers," and tunes like the jangling, Byrds-like "American Girl" certainly make a case for that appellation. At the same time, "Don't Come Around Here No More" and "You Got Lucky" eagerly expand that stylistic template with haunting atmospherics and neo-psychedelic touches.
GREATEST HITS offers a handy, hook-laden, single-disc summary of this great American band. It traverses the Heartbreakers' journey from raw, lean '70s enfants terribles to elder rock-&-roll statesmen. Conveniently, it also includes the two best Heartbreakers tunes never to grace one of their studio albums--"Mary Jane's Last Dance" and the Petty/Stevie Nicks duet, "Stop Draggin' My Heart Around."
Producers include: Rick Rubin, Jimmy Iovine, David A. Stewart, Mike Campbell, Jeff Lynne.
Personnel: Tom Petty (vocals, guitar, keyboards); Mike Campbell (guitar, keyboards); Benmont Tench ...

Brooks & Dunn Greatest Hits Collection CD (1997) Top Seller
Last Chance for a Thousand Years: Greatest Hits from the 90's buy CD music A greatest hits collection is almost a redundancy for this chart-topping contemporary country duo, since nearly everything they touch turns to gold (if not platinum). Nevertheless, this compilation condenses the band's catalog, including three brand new tracks, into 19 sparkling gems of country-pop, bound to please both longtime fans and curious first-timers. They're all here, from the band's stellar cover of the pop hit "My Maria" to beer-swiggin' jukebox faves like "Boot Scootin' Boogie" and "Honky Tonk Truth."
What comes across most strongly on this album is the consistency of Brooks and Dunn's work, as it moves from house-rockin' uptempo numbers to sentimental ballads without losing a step. Every track features top-notch performances from great Nashville studio musicians, state-of-the-art production, and of course, the lilting harmonies of Brooks and Dunn. What more could a fan ask?

Very Best of Dwight Yoakam CD (2004) Top Seller
Last Chance for a Thousand Years: Greatest Hits from the 90's songs It's no coincidence that maverick country star Dwight Yoakam rose to prominence in Los Angeles during the 1980s, playing clubs with the likes of Los Lobos, X, and the Blasters. Yoakam's roots revivalism, which borrows equally from the Bakersfield honky-tonk of Buck Owens and vintage Sun Studios-era rockabilly, has much in common with a punk-inspired, back-to-basics approach. THE VERY BEST OF proves that despite--or maybe because of--Yoakam's category defiance, his music is immensely appealing.
Yoakam's willingness to bend the rules is evident in his choice of covers. Included here are a punchy version of "Suspicious Minds," a countrified take on Cheap Trick's "I Want You to Want Me," and a swinging cover of Queen's "Crazy Little Thing Called Love." To these and other tunes, Yoakam brings his country-rock flair and his truly beautiful baritone croon. But nothing matches his late-'80s cuts, particularly the rave-up barroom classic "Honky Tonk Man" and Yoakam's own "Guitars, Cadillacs," standouts on this excellent collection representing one of country's coolest and most distinctive stars.

Martina Mcbride Greatest Hits CD (2001)
Last Chance for a Thousand Years: Greatest Hits from the 90's CD music The last 4 tracks on GREATEST HITS are newly recorded songs for this CD.
"Blessed" was nominated for the 2003 Grammy Awards for Best Female Country Vocal Performance.
Cynics might suggest that pop-country star Martina McBride's greatest assets are here pearly whites and piercing blue eyes. Those who've followed the trajectory of McBride's career (a decade and six albums at the time of this compilation's release) know that the real reasons for her success are a set of super-strong pipes and a knack for picking material from some of Nashville's most hit-bound songwriters. One of those writers, Gretchen Peters, provided McBride with a signature song early on, in the form of "Independence Day," a bold narrative that deals unflinchingly with spousal abuse.
To her credit, McBride didn't try to repeat that song's success by becoming Nashville's poster girl for social causes. The rest of the songs on GREATEST HITS cover a variety of topics, but mostly center around the timeless biggies like celebration of love ("My Baby Loves Me"), glory of God (the previously unreleased "Blessed"), and surviving doomed relationships ("Broken Wing"). With its all-encompassing coverage of McBride's career highlights and its bevy of never-before-heard songs, GREATEST HITS is the definitive introduction to McBride's career.

Stevie Nicks Timespace: The Best of Stevie Nicks CD (1991) Top Seller
Last Chance for a Thousand Years: Greatest Hits from the 90's buy CD music TIMESPACE contains Stevie Nick's greatest hits plus three new songs.
Although her gauzy, enchantress persona suggests a certain level of flightiness, Stevie Nicks has always come across as one smart performer. TIMESPACE: THE BEST OF STEVIE NICKS samples a full decade's worth of singles and key album tracks from her solo career (starting with 1981's BELLA DONNA), and makes a strong case for the idea that Nicks's own records were actually better than Fleetwood Mac's albums during the same period. All of the hits are here, from the early smashes "Edge of Seventeen" and the Tom Petty duet "Stop Draggin' My Heart Around" to later gems such as the driving Prince collaboration "Stand Back" (arguably her solo high point) and the dreamy, Fleetwood Mac-like Top 40 hit "Rooms on Fire." TIMESPACE also includes fan favorites like the Don Henley duet "Leather and Lace" and the gorgeous "Has Anyone Ever Written Anything for You" to create a complete overview of Nick's '80s solo work.
