Following the release of the Talking Heads' fourth album, REMAIN IN LIGHT, the band's husband-and-wife rhythm section, drummer Chris Frantz and bassist Tina Weymouth, opted to record tracks in the Caribbean on the invitation of Islands Records founder Chris Blackwell, thus the Tom Tom Club was born. Joined by Talking Heads touring guitarist Adrian Belew, guitarist Monte Brown, percussionist Steven Stanley, and Weymouth's sisters, Laura and Lani, on background vocals, Frantz and Weymouth crafted a highly rhythmic, groove-laden album that incorporated world music (most obviously on the buoyant, African-tinged "L'Elephant") and hip-hop (the playful "Wordy Rappinghood," a kindred spirit to Blondie's "Rapture"). Of course, the 1981 album's most shining moment proved to be the hit single, "Genius of Love," a vibrant dance-floor classic that has been sampled ad infinitum. Issued the same year as David Byrne and Brian Eno's MY LIFE IN THE BUSH OF GHOSTS, TOM TOM CLUB was the fun and free-spirited counterpart to that experimental and cerebral outing, revealing that the Taking Heads could making fascinating music even when fragmented.
Digitally remastered and expanded deluxe two CD edition of The Tom Tom Club's 1981 debut album including five bonus remixes plus a bonus CD that contains their 1983 sophomore album Close To The Bone (appearing for the first time on CD) alongside four bonus remixes related to that album! The Tom Tom Club are ex-Talking Heads husband and wife team Chris Frantz and Tina Weymouth. They began as a side project in between Talking Heads projects and scored a huge club hit with 'Wordy Rappinghood'. Their mix of Funk, Reggae and Electronica was extremely unique at the time and unlike anything they'd recorded with David Byrne and Co. Universal.
Tom Tom Club: Tina Weymouth, Chris Frantz, Steven Stanley, Benjamin Arbrister, Adrian Belew, Loric Weymouth, Laura Weymouth, Monte Brown, Tyrone Dowrie, James Rizzi, Kendall Stubbs, Lani Weymouth.
Producers: Steven Stanley, Tina Weymouth, Chris Frantz.

$21.29 THE VERY BEST OF includes a 46-page booklet with pictures and track information.
"Hole In The World" was nominated for the 2004 Grammy Award for Best Pop Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocal.
This 1994 greatest hits package (released in anticipation of the band's wildly successful reunion tour and album) supplants THEIR GREATEST HITS 1971-1975. It adds seven songs, but unfortunately deletes "Already Gone," one of their best rockers.
What's most interesting about THE VERY BEST OF THE EAGLES - apart from the presence of obviously classic songs like "Take It Easy" and "Hotel ...

1976's A NEW WORLD RECORD is both a classic of commercial '70s pop and an archetypal ELO album. From the outer-space synths and rich orchestrations that open the album to Jeff Lynne's meticulous production and Beatlesque melodies, A NEW WORLD RECORD is magnificent ear candy. Both ambitious enough to appeal to "serious" rock fans and ultra-catchy enough to sound terrific on Top 40 radio (the plaintively gorgeous, McCartney-like "Telephone Line" and the anthemic "Livin' Thing" were well-deserved smashes), ELO was one of the few '70s bands whose appeal covered both the FM and AM spectrums. The album even resurrects "Do Ya," a classic single by Lynne's former band, the Move, in a splashy new version.
The next ELO album, 1977's elaborate double-album OUT OF THIS WORLD, was probably the band's commercial high point, but A NEW WORLD RECORD is the group's artistic high-water mark.

| | Jefferson Airplane Sweeping Up The Spotlight: Live At The Fillmore East 1969 CD (2007)
Tom Tom Club songs
$7.59 Jefferson Airplane were less focused in 1969 than they had been in the Summer of Love two years before. Recorded at the Fillmore East, these performances find the Airplane coming off their most recent album, Volunteers, released a month earlier, with the band a lot looser (drug use aside) and fractured. The factions in the group were presenting themselves during performances, and this set is no exception. Guitarist Jorma Kaukonen and bassist Jack Cassidy connected and jammed like they would have been just as content ...
| | Danny Kirwan Second Chapter CD (1975) With Book; Limited Edition; Digipak
Tom Tom Club album
$19.79 The first solo album from Fleetwood Mac singer/songwriter Daniel David Kirwan has the future producer for Human League and Buzzcocks, Martin Rushent, utilizing those skills here, as well as engineering. The sound is crystal clear, and a feather in the cap for Rushent as well as Kirwan. It starts off with an uncharacteristic "Ram Jam City," which has more Lindsey Buckingham sounds than one would expect, especially since the two guitarists come from two different musical worlds. "Odds and Ends" is more lighthearted, the kind of music Paul McCartney toyed with on The White Album's "Rocky Raccoon." What Second Chapter ...

Tom Tom Club CD music
$18.99 I am Elizabeth A. Irving(Libby/Libbydocious)Poet/Author, and I'm proud to say this is my Debut CD of original poetry and original music. The name of my company is LibbydociousINK/Slamm'n & Jamm'n.If you would like me to recite Poetry With A Flair at your party or event, for Bookings call (925) 439-9676 or send e-mail to libbydocious@comcast. net. Remember, my CD will make great stocking-stuffers, and gifts for all occasions. The recipient of such a wonderful gift will love you to pieces. I want to Thank God for giving me this talent, and I am using it to the best of my ability. I have recited my poetry at many venues: LaPena Cultural Center (Berkeley,CA) Kimball's East (Emeryville,CA) TR's Bar and Grill (Concord,CA) Hilton Hotel (Concord,CA) Sheraton Hotel(Concord,CA) Yoshi's/Jack London Square (Oakland,CA) Marriott Courtyard (Emeryville,Ca) Marriott Hotel Downtown Oakland City Center (Oakland, Ca) Anna's Jazz Island (Berkeley, CA) numerous private parties, church weddings and other church events. I was the opening act at many of the venues for my sister's shows (The Dynamic Miss Faye Carol). I never imagined, in a million years, I'd be reciting poetry in front of big crowds. My sister told me to never say what I couldn't do, and that was the best advice. I'm glad God gave me my Mother. My Mother is the force behind my success and she inspires me to do better. What would I do without her?The poem "Brown Skin-Bea" was tailor-made for my Mother. Every word in the poem is true, because they were said throughout the years. From the time I was a teenager, until I became a grown woman, my Mother spoke of her childhood and teenage years, growing up in the deep South. Now, I thank my Mother, everyday, for giving me her unique brand of inspiration. My Mother exposed me to church at a very young age, and I loved going. To me, the best part of church service are music and the choir singing. I didn't begin writing poetry until I was forty years old, so I'm proof positive that it's never too late to reach for and attain your dreams and goals. Writing poetry helps me tap into my innermost feelings, and be able to share them without being afraid. Yes, fear of what other people thought of me stopped me from moving forward. I had to go around that barrier, because I know what I like. I realize I can't please everybody, but I continue to reach out to touch people in a positive way. I leave it up to the individual who reads my material to interpret it the way he/she sees fit.Producing this cd was a wonderful experience, and I love every poem on it. The music takes my poetry to another level, and I hope you enjoy listening to it."I must humbly say that words fall short in attempting to describe Libby's Writings. They are simply GLORIOUS!! For example, the poem "My Prayer For You-The Gifts That God Has Given Me" is on ...
