State Of Mind Report album
$17.57 Of the "big four" original thrash bands (the other three being Metallica, Anthrax, and Megadeth), Slayer was the least compromising and most consistent. As such, 2009's WORLD PAINTED BLOOD recalled more than the title of Slayer's 1986 masterpiece REIGN IN BLOOD; it shared the earlier album's ferocious aggression and trademark speed metal-meets-hardcore sound. Throughout, the sound is ...

State Of Mind Report CD music
$10.65 After the original Stryper lineup (minus bassist Tim Gaines) reunited for 2005's somewhat alternative/nu-metal tinged REBORN, the band made a stylistic return to form with MURDER BY PRIDE. Brimming with harmonized twin guitar leads, big hair metal-approved shout-along hooks, and Michael ...
| | Atreyu Congregation Of The Damned CD (2009)
State Of Mind Report music CDs
$11.65 On their latest effort, Atreyu come with more of the same metalcore that listeners have come to expect from the band. All of the familiar elements are in place, with the alternating screaming/soaring vocals, thundering double bass drumming, and big, crunchy riffage. The difference here is that the band seems to have mellowed out a bit, opting for a more melodic approach. Like their last album, the songs here feel somewhat restrained, like they're just dying to break free of the polished production. The intensity of SUICIDE NOTES and BUTTERFLY KISSES seems to have been put out to pasture, with the songs feeling more deliberately poppy.

State Of Mind Report album
$11.18 On King Diamond's eighth concept album, the prolific horror rocker hasn't entirely run out of ideas, although the material on Voodoo is generally predictable. Set in New Orleans, the story line is loaded with more witchcraft, haunted houses, and ghosts. ...

State Of Mind Report music CDs
$12.69 For Glory and Empire is a progressive metal band based out of Fort Wayne, Indiana. After writing an album worth of material, guitarist Thomas Miller hooked up with bassist Ryan Black, vocalist Ari Oh, and, after months of auditions, drummer Jake Howard. The quartet was born and with an aggressive yet melodic sound, it wasn’t long before the band started playing shows around the Fort Wayne area and put out their first demo, To Take Arms. Unfortunately, For Glory and ...
| | Sonata Arctica The Days Of Grays CD (2009)
State Of Mind Report songs
$13.15 Having announced their "boredom" with the likeable but at times all-too-predictable power metal peddled on their first four albums, Finland's Sonata Arctica brought a notably heavier sound and darker outlook to bear on their fifth opus, Unia, which understandably didn't sit well with many fans, but certainly helped their metal credibility as a band willing to take chances. So, for their sixth studio album (discounting numerous EPs and a few live recordings along the way), The Days of Grays, the Fins decided to keep things interesting by shifting direction yet again -- but this time they reigned in some of their progressive elements and focused their revived melodic tendencies underneath lyrics devoted either to doomed romance ("Juliet," "No Dream Can Heal a Broken Heart") or bouts of clinical depression (see "The Last Amazing Grays," the claustrophobic "Zeroes," and "The Truth Is Out There," which explores psychology as alien abduction). The romantic tracks often boast a mass appeal on par with Sonata's most successful countrymen, Nightwish, but by doing so naturally ...
