Soundtrack English; Soundtrack French; Soundtrack Spanish The story of two feuding mountain families -- the Tollivers and the Falins -- and the tensions that flare up between them when young Buddy Tolliver turns up murdered. Complicating matters is an engineer visiting from the big city. While making plans to run a railroad through the mountains, the city slicker falls in love with one of the hillbilly's daughters. This adaptation of John Fox Jr.'s novel was the first feature to be shot outdoors in Technicolor. It tells the tale of a railroad engineer who inadvertently fans the flames of an ancient family feud when he arrives to build a line through the Blue Ridge Mountains. Academy Award Nominations: Best Original Song ("A Melody From the Sky"). This is the first film to be shot entirely on location in three-strip Technicolor.
Trail Of The Lonesome Pine Reviews: "...Historically famous as the first outdoor movie shot in full three-color Technicolor..."

$16.89 The title refers to the night when three men, Randy (Matt Dillon), his cousin Carl (Paul Reiser) and Detective Dehling (John Goodman), all meet Jewel Valentine (Liv Tyler) at a bar called McCool's. Actually, they don't so much meet her as fall under her spell when they first lay eyes on her. In her clinging red dress she looks like a cross between a beautiful damsel in distress and the Lady In Red looking for John Dillinger. The story begins with Randy, desperate to be rid of Jewel, hiring a sleazy hitman, played by Michael Douglas in an ...

$9.85 Blake Edwards's return to the male-in-meltdown territory he explored in 10 and THAT'S LIFE stars John Ritter as unemployed writer Zach, who is not only suffering from writer's block, but his drinking is out of control, as is his obsessive womanizing, and, not surprisingly, his wife wants to end their marriage. To add to his problems, his house has just burned down, and his agent is knocking at death's door. But since this is a Blake Edwards comedy, Zach has enough charm and relative affluence to continue ...

| | Tyler Perry's Madea Goes To Jail DVD (2009) Full Frame; Dubbed; Subtitled
Trail Of The Lonesome Pine review
$14.59 Multitalented screenwriter, director, playwright, and actor Tyler Perry delivers yet another comedy feature from his popular MADEA film series. Largely concerned with African American family life, Perry splits his efforts between the outrageous Madea films and other, slightly more serious features such as 2008’s THE FAMILY THAT PREYS. As the name suggests, MADEA GOES TO JAIL, based on the 2006 play of the same title, once again stars Perry himself as Mabel B. Simmons (nicknamed Madea), the feisty, gun-loving grandmother audiences have adored on stage and screen since she first appeared in the 2002 play MADEA’S FAMILY REUNION. When Madea ends up in jail following a series of violent outbursts, she finds herself in equally eccentric company and causes chaos among her fellow inmates. In a fat suit and women’s clothing, Perry keeps things light while exploring signature themes of redemption, such as the young attorney (Derek Luke, NOTORIOUS) who sets out to help a prostitute (Keshia Knight Pulliam, THE COSBY SHOW) who holds a special place in his heart.
The New Orleans-born Renaissance man once again proves himself to be comfortable wearing many hats: as star, producer, ...

Trail Of The Lonesome Pine DVD
$21.25 Actress Elle Fanning (younger sister of Dakota Fanning) proves to have wisdom beyond her years with her raw and vulnerable performance as the title character in PHOEBE IN WONDERLAND. Both delightfully vivid and thought-provoking, PHOEBE IN WONDERLAND sensitively depicts a young girl living with the increasing symptoms of Tourette’s Syndrome. Unable to fit in with her classmates, Phoebe throws herself into her school’s production of ALICE IN WONDERLAND and finds a confidant and mentor in her drama teacher, played by the luminous Patricia Clarkson.
Both Felicity Huffman and Bill Pullman offer up stellar performances as Phoebe’s academic parents, who struggle to come to terms with their daughter’s illness while fighting to preserve the unique and imaginative child that they have raised. This story of battling the confines of the status quo--while accepting that there are problems outside of a family’s ...
