The Brooklyn-based experimental noise pop group, The Binary Marketing Show, will be releasing its third full-length album on April 30 entitled pattern. The album is a forty-five minute romp through sample-based grooves, chanting circus melodies, and post-traumatic episodes. Anxious screams of frustration bust through drifting male/female harmonies while other quiet moments leap into raw rock rhythms. Generally characterized by its segmented pop hooks and sometimes frantic beats, pattern is a crafted record that recaps the daily thoughts, feelings, and disillusions of four enchanted individuals that are up and coming in the Brooklyn art-rock scene. The album's first track, "Shape of your Head," fuses driving electronic beats like that of early 90's techno with the schmaltzy sound of sampled orchestral harps only to ironically become almost a rock song with a tight synth bass line. "Trust and Candor" is a floor-tom centric drum-line with chanting lyrics that bursts into a trumpet fanfare like breaking a two-by-four with your fist only to disappear into oblivion as quickly as it came. "White Template" starts with quiet arpeggios and haunting, reverb-drenched vocals and erupts into a thematic baritone guitar melody and trotting percussion like that of a Tarantino remake of The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly. The albums ends with the glitching pitch-bending notes of a euphonium in the song "Present Day Armor" with what sounds like the march in a demented Miyazaki film and dissolves into the charming vocal harmonies and sounds of shattering glass in "Words..." Overall, the album demonstrates the group's diverse range of influence and collective approach to experimenting and music making. This isn't your typical knob-twisting-on-the-delay-pedal kind of experimental music as The Binary Marketing Show is picking up the pieces of the broken forms found in the realm of noise music and building a monument to the shape of your head. Pattern album
$19.10 NEVER A DULL MOMENT picks up where EVERY PICTURE TELLS A STORY left off. Here we have more raucous rock & roll with healthy dollops of soul and twang thrown in for good measure. Always looking for a good songwriter to cover, Stewart's honorees here include Jimi Hendrix ("Angel"), Dylan ("Mama You Been On My Mind"), and Rod's personal hero, Sam Cooke ("Twistin' The Night Away"). Sidling up nicely next to these heartfelt interpretations are some of Stewart's finest original songs. Teaming with spiritual brother Ron Wood, Stewart offers up the cheeky "Italian Girls" and "True Blue," a track that goes along ...

Pattern music CDs
$13.84 Glitter and Doom Live, a double-disc set, marks Tom Waits' third live effort in his nearly 40-year career, each one summing up his career to the point of its release. The first, Nighthawks at the Diner issued in 1975 on Asylum, is regarded by many as one of the greatest live albums of all time. The second was Big Time, released during his tenure at Island in 1986. The musical performances on disc one of Glitter and Doom Live were culled from Waits' historic sold-out tour of the U.S. and Europe. He compiled and sequenced the set himself, intending to make them sound like a single show. The material leans, understandably, on his recordings with the Anti label. There are stellar performances here, such as "Get Behind ...

$10.49 A HARD DAY'S NIGHT presents a fictionalized day in the life of the Beatles as they give a performance on a live television show. Filmed just a month after their appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show in February 1964, this film--the Beatles' first--introduces us to the unique personalities of each member of the band. The film opens with the Fab Four boarding a train mobbed with adoring young fans (mostly women) as they attempt to travel to the television studio in London. The antics of the band during rehearsals and makeup application provide a ...
